Bachelor's park

Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself to everyone. I am the new park manager up at bachy, I come from boreal via north carolina. I have a lot of good things in store, some new rails, boxes, jibs, and all that good stuff. And a lot of MAJOR changes to the park up here this season. I will keep everyone updated as much as I can, feel free to give imput whenever on here.

welcome to bachy... can't wait to see what you bring to the park. Its been getting better the last few years and from sounds of it looks like a lot better.

See you on the mountain, I'm sure. Not to mention seeing you at the grocery store, at Player's, at the Westside, at McMenamins.... Bend is such a small town.

Hames,

I am stoked we got some fresh ideas man 'cause to be completely honest with you I skiied bachelor the last two seasons and the park has gone from status level riding to a joke. The jumps are few and far between and the rails are just weak dude. We need more bokes and longer rails that are not just tap rails. It would be sweet if you could set up some handrail style stuff too. Also the pipe was a a waste of time and money last year... either make it ridable or spend the time elsewhere. But I don't mean to unload the problems of the past on you man and i am jazzed you are here. I have ridin at boreal many times and respect what eric and you were trying to do there!

Another suggestion - Set up an interactive terrain park site like Keystone has for A51 (I think Meadows, T-Line and Skibowl should do it, too - but I digress). It includes maps of the parks with pictures and descriptions of the features. Having that level of detail convinced me to go ride park there vs the other spots in Summit County on my visit last winter. If the park looks dope sick nasty, I might decide to drive the extra couple of hours from PDX on a Saturday morning.

Daily ticket discounts for season pass holders from other local resorts might be a draw for me (and other PDX riders), too.

I am trying to pump out as many new features as possible and fix everything we have, but my time is limited until the season starts but trust me some of the rails and setups yall have mentioned have been built or are in progress right now and are manditory in my view of parks. As far as the web goes, it is in the works, most likely for next year because of content amount and the fact that I want the site to be good. I do plan on getting a blog page up for this season though, and an interactive park is in the plan for the site next season. As far as discounts go I wish I could help you out with that but it's just not under my control. I will try to get some pics of whats going on up soon, at least on bachy's site.

sweet i heard boreal was sick, never got to ski it though. I'm pumped for this season, planning on coming down to bachy quite a few times this year. Make the park good!

I remember a while ago, bach was SICK...they had shots from their park in Freeze all the time.

Hopefully you can take it back to that...coming from Boreal is a pretty good sign, because Boreal is super fun.

any change is good, the park has been the same for nearly 5 years now, i'd like to see some big hips. next, we need real boxes, with angle iron copeing, not round tube that sticks up 1" higher then the deck, boxes like sierra @ tahoe and northstar have.

pipe? we have one of those? oh ya, that thing they groom only before comps, then rope it off and let it go to shit before anyone can ride it again.

A few new boxes have been built. Mainly this year will be switching everything to a quality park with better flow, maintenance, etc. Most new features I am building are either junk yard features or built out of recycled materials sujh as old lift towers, snowmaking pipe, etc. There is alot of lovin going into all old rails and boxes. I wish I could build more boxes this year but the money just was not in my budget, next summer is going to be alot of box and wall ride building. Stu Epps who worked for me a boreal (cut pipe on erics days off) is up and will be cutting the pipe every night except tues weds and I will be cutting it then. And sorry no jibs this weekend, it just got to warm up here this week and has been inverted since yesterday. Hopefully it will come soon.

I know this is a long shot., but it would be sick to either move the pipe or build an additional pipe that you can hit in the same run as the park.

Most resorts give the rider the ability to ride the pipe and the park in the same run, not have to choose one or the other. having to make a decision on which to ride leads many riders with little pipe experience.. i was thinking at the bottom of the park. that would be sick.

yeah that would be awesome, but you have to look at it from the mtn.'s perspective. They spent dollar bills to dig it in ground so, that wouldn't really happen.

It would actually be crazy, but it would be sweet if they maybe made red chair an all park run and had a shitload of stuff like A51

what are you talking about? steep and bachelor should never be put in the same sentence. I think on down under or kangaroo would be sick, lots of natural rolls and pitchs to work with.

red chair would be dope also, if they ran the chair to service just the park, you'd stay out of the wind that way too.

ive read a little about you in the source and online, and so far i like what im hearing...

since powdercorp took over, the park has gone to shit. we need someone who is motivated and dedicated to get us back on top. i hope that you can be that guy.

if not... well you'll probably enjoy your fair share of hatemail via angry newschoolers members.

best of luck hames.

no, that would suck. its too steep for a park at the top and it gets way too flat for anything but rails in which you will not have enough speed to hit.

if rainbow wasn't such a slow chair, I-5 would be the best run possible: great pitch, wide as all can be for building and snow draw, low crowds.

Yeah that was like the last of the best years. The year Super Park 6 came. Lets see that was roughly like the 2004-2005 season. But it looks like that will all change, too bad i ain't got a pass.

bachelors park hasent been that good for a long time. it wasent 04-05 it was like 03-04. hope this year is gonna be sick and from what ive seen its not bad at all so far.

All of those shots were from Superpark 6 which wasn't open to the publice which is unfortunate because it was about a billion times better than the regular park. but back in 03-04 the park was really good. jumps were nice and there was a decent hip, PLEASE BUILD SOME HIPS if not multiple at least one good one.

pretty super park 6 was on the other side of the mountain?
this was just a private park shoot for robot food if im not mistaken?

Well Superpark was for Powder Mag Superpark 6. But Robot Food did stuff also with some of the features. Tgr did have a huge gap jump there like the year after that.
