B/S/T could be so much better (brainstorm thread)

I see a lot of people saying the y want to be able to edit threads, just for BST. It got me thinking, BST could be a lot better if it was completely redesigned and made different from a regular forum.

Here are some ideas I have:

-Subcategories (skis, boots, jackets, etc.)

-and a rummage sale category for people trying to sell a bunch of stuff at once

-Thumbnails next to threads

-Make threads where the item is sold change color (like red background or something), thread creator could just check a box or something.

Add some of your ideas NS.
 
a rule that you arent allowed to bump your own thread unless youve lowered the price
 
from the sounds of that you want a classifieds section with individual posts for different items. We actually used to have those and noone used it. Do people want to go back to that way?
 
yeah like on pinkbike you can search what type of bike or part you want and then region

sounds cool but I dunno how popular they would be
 
I actually like seeing a big, long, varied sale thread. They're interesting to look at and usually have something for everyone.

It's also much easier to make one thread to sell your stuff, as opposed to multiple listings for each category of item...
 
Use the reviews section as a base. It shouldn't be that hard to redesign it for a classified. It would also be sooooooooooooo much easier to find things. Maybe even have people pay if they want it on the front page. Like 25 cents a day or something cheap but would bring it a little extra revenue.
 
I see nothing wrong with the current B/S/T forum except the outrageous amounts of WTB ads. To me, it should be a place to BUY someone elses stuff from their sale, SELL your own stuff, or TRADE your stuff between 2 peoples sale threads. To log in and see more than half the page "WTB SAGA" and "WTB JIBERISH" is really quite frustrating. If someone wants to sell their Saga or Jiberish they will put in up for sale when they feel the time is right, not when someone begs and bumps for weeks trying to get their hands on it...If there was a separate section for just WTB and WTT then anyone who was thinking "hmm, id like to sell my Jiberish crew" could go to that forum and see if there was any demand for it. Same with trades and commonly wanted items...
 
yeah im liking all the ideas on here. itd make things much easier.
maybe have a test page for it? not sure how exactly. just see how people like it and stuff
 
WTB threads need to go. I like the idea of being able to mark something as sold. I think before you can mark it as sold, you must mark a buyer, that way if the thread was updated or ever deleted, you are marked as a buyer and if they unmark you then the item shows up for sale again. You get it? Once someone is marked then they would pay, that way you have eliminated any chance of an alias. Then once you receive the item, you go to my NS and click received, you have to leave feedback and then once you leave feedback it marks the item as received and then alerts the seller the item has arrived and then they have to leave feedback or put up with daily alerts reminding them to leave feedback. Might be kind of confusing.
 
At the top of a thread show any other aliases someone may have. I know, it can be kind of invading, but it might get to the point where we need something like this. It would put an end to Vince though.
 
I don't see how this would be invading. Personally I think aliases serve no useful purpose other than spamming threads, scamming people, and posting useless shit you wouldn't normally post on your main account. Please correct me if they can be used for anything positive because I don't see anything.
 
i was thinking about this earlier....maybe having a option to view new threads that were made on the current date....sometimes if your just browsing, you go to the same threads over and over...just an idea
 
I think that is great for an item like a bike, where shipping can be $100 and then the bike has to be reassembled, but for just skis, goggles, boots, clothing, etc., I find it not so necessary.

Nomen is right, go look in the BST and see how many of those members making threads you recognize from Ski Gabber, NSG, Gear Talk, etc. It is no longer a community, kids treat it like eBay, and everyone wants to make a profit.
 
I like it as it is, i don't see many MASSIVE changes which wouldn't somehow take away from the already-good parts of BST
 
i think that making b/s/t separate would make an opportunity for a better search results.
for example: if you are looking to buy a very specific type of jacket (lets say orage, TJ pro size XL) then you would be able to find it very quickly because there would be categories for things like Brand, Model, Size. that would make searching very, very accurate and can apply for skis as well. Everything else like ipods and whatnot would be under a misc category.
 
bad bad bad idea. cause while people would do it at first for say a week, then it would end up like the photo categories. nobody would post in the right spot and nomen would flip shit
