i prolly kno how this is gonna turn out but i want to hear which resort people like better(take everything into account) i personally like boston mills. u can hike park ski bumps and trees and some small cliffs and i feel the people are nicer and at the bottom u are not forced onto one lift. what are everyone else's inputs?

just riding i like boston mills, i like the lodge alot more too. brandywines park is fun... thats about it, good parking lot to do donuts in too. when are they gonna fix the sketch ass driveway though, ive seen so many ppl go off the side of that road its not even funny

I think the people and general vibe is better at bmills but the park is better at bwine...i've felt that changing though a lot or at least in my opinion

B mills has better runs if you just want to ski. they usually have a rail or two. at the end of the year they put jumps iin but they are not that great.B wine has a great park with lots of fun rails

well maybe no cliffs cept that one snowy day. but ive alway had better times at bm cept when u cach a good day at bw and no ones ther! sick days!

i like the vibe at bmills a lot more than bwine, im not quite sure what makes it like that though.. but the park at bwine is no doubt better

b mills cuz the vibe seems to be soo much better.

at b mills it seems like everyone is there to enjoy themselves, at b wine its all about being the best person there.

that and i think that the skiing at b mills is better.

also, anyone else think that the ski patrol is nicer at b mills?

all i know is bmills needs to reopen the lodge at the top of north bowl i think it is, that was the place to kick it with hot chocolate back in the day.

Hell yeah, they need to re-open Buena Vista, that shit was a tight place to chill. Main lodge is always so fucking crowded with gapers.

Mills for sure. The nice thing is you can ski to the shortest lift line between pride, bowl, and croyle easily. BW has the bigger park features and they had Buena Vista open with snack machines like 2 years ago so it must not be making them money. I like Mills because the distance from your car to the slopes is much less than at BW.

allllmost everything, but buena vista used to be the shit back in the day. i remember hearing something about them closing it down because they found mice or mice shit in the coffee makers or something along those lines?! anyone who can truthfully verify or deny is welcome to chime in. i'd love to know.

that was back in the days of the ludwig's running the place when the management there actually gave half a shit about customer service and customer experience. they also used to have live local music play by the bridge at BW on sunday mornings courtesy of 107.9 'the end' , not sure if they still have new years eve torch light parades with the instructors, and if you're reallllllly old, you can remember when they used to have a pipe on skier's left of shredder at BW. jerry, looking your way for some more memories ...

the designated jump at BM-1985, 76 trail, "cliff jumping" on 76 trail, mexican food at the buena vista, black and yellow north face pants, #3 chair went all the way to the top, skiing on summit for two weeks while we waited for them to open more hills at the start of the season, the pipe at BW at the TOP of shredder-when skiers weren't allowed in the park, never going to BW because my pass was only for Mills, learning 7's on my k2 207's, the jump from bowl down to pride that got built EVERY day and sessioned only to be knocked down that night. Finn and Zarconi(sp), and where the fuck did Smas(again sp) go?

I've landed flat on that kicker that is always built from nbowl down to pride. It's kicked my ass one too many times.

black and yellow north face pants were the hotness back in the day. i remember buttermilk chair going to the top (if thats what you mean by #3 chair). i remember when skiers weren't allowed in the park too haha. how about taking the same bump line on north bowl easily for 6-8+ hours because that's literally all there was to do at BM since the jump from bowl to pride wasn't allowed 90% of the time and would promptly get stomped out the minute zarconi and or finn 'got inverted'. how bout the glenn plake 'down home tour' hitting mills in the fall of 91 or 92? yes i still have the down home tour tshirt he signed from when i met him, and yes i'm still upset he didn't have his mohawk up at the time.

finn is living in hollywood working for his dad's company and starting hedgerow (http://drinkhedgerow.com/)

zarconi i still see every now and then randomly at parties in boulder

smas got married and i think i heard lives in the falls?

no idea where jason and bill went tho

in regards to the Buena Vista not being open, i have never heard about the mice, so chip you could be right, but the main reasons they closed it was it was not making enough money, they had to staff employees that were not usually supervised for a facility not frequently used, there is no water; they have to fill up a water tank which i am assuming would have to be done every other week or so and all drinking water from mills is trucked in since they dont have city water, and running supplies up there is a major pain in the ass, it takes a lot of effort to run that place believe it or not, so it has to be worth it. i wish it was open too, i asked management in the off season before the vending machines were there why they dont use it and those were the answers they gave me. oh yeah and the reasons the vending machines are no longer there are because of vandalism.

Now i think all of the people who are 25 and older all love mills more becuase we all grew up there skiing and had no loyalty to brandywine because it was not owned by mills until '93. but i think the younger generation now will all love brandywine more because of how big freestyle riding is now and clearly brandywine is better for park. Really i think the big thing Mills has going for it is it's name and tradition, and eventually i think that will wear out.

I dont post much on this forum since joining years ago, but some of these last few posts about BM/BW sure got the memories going...

My buddies and I felt like we owned that place from about 91-96, especially those last 4 years.

I feel like I gotta throw my 2 cents in on some of the better times I remember...

Executive parking weather it was allowed or not basically on the hill next to the Croyle race hut,

Poaching out of bounds in the woods skiers left of Croyle and hitching/hiking back to the lot, poaching OB from blue hen falls down to the creek by the Pride triple chair, and of course on the really good snow days, ducking the fence skiers right of Buttermilk down to Boston Mills Rd, making sure to avoid the hanging water pipe...

Launching from Buttermilk, up onto Tiger, clearing the fence, launching to 76 from Tiger, of course the afforementioned kicker from North Bowl to a very flat landing on Pride...

Running bump "trains" with about 30 of your buddies down the same bump line on NBowl over and over again,

Bump comps; Facing off against your buddies; the first one was always freezing, and the spring carnival one always had good air. The crappy prizes they gave out...

Of course the buena vista - lots of parties up there, sneaking beers hanging out with your buddies stuck working the burrito shack...

Hanging out in the tech shop shooting the shit with George and 'fucking' Andy, storing warm beer in your locker, sneaking pitchers from the bar with the help of some of the 'older' guys...

Sleeping in your car overnight in the lot just to party, stealing girls from the Brecksville guys...

of course, all the yellow and black North Face Gear you could get your hands on. Making fun of your buddies 13th pair of busted K2 Extremes. The radness that was the Salomon Force 9.

Driving to BW in your ski boots only to sneak into the pipe.

Season passes so riddled with hole punches from all the days you were out there, a stack of tickets an inch thick on your zipper...

The ski shop before it was buckeye sports, and some of the free gear that they would hook you up with...

When you had to walk across riverview road to get to the place (if you werent lucky enough to get the executive lot)

Too many good times to mention. I went back while visiting family a couple of years ago, and man did it seem ALOT smaller, more crowded, and crappier. I have to admit though while sitting on the balcony of the bar having a beer, it did feel good to be back 'home' even if for only a minute.

reveal yourself bmillsskier! what is your true identity?!

i dunno how many of you ever saw this, but like 4+ years ago some guys made a video and it was online somewhere, and it was a group of guys who are all about in their mid 30's or so i'm guessing who all moved out west, but it was about growing up in ohio skiing bmbw and it was about 10 minutes long or so .. it was a pretty cool documentary style short, covering alot of what we are talking about in this thread, including shuttle bus footage complete with the audio clip on the loud speakers 'attention boston mills brandywine skiers, the shuttle bus for brandywine will be leaving in tennnnn minutes' , etc etc.

ANYONE know what i'm talking about or where we could find it?

i like the use of the word 'executive' parking haha. we refer to it as the north lot, and i remember when it became public which was awesome. many keystone lights were crushed in that parking lot and food eaten out of the back of travis' truck bed. that was an awesome place to hangout and meet randoms and trade beers until dickhead graham put up the cattle fence to deter people from doing what people always do in ski hill parking lots.

Those who will never, under any circumstances, be admitted to BMBP:
Rickster Cunningscam, M.K. Sr., "Spoonster", Bob "Kermy" Kermisis, John "Look at these Levers" Lang

wow! ive never seen that. i graduated high school with most of those guys. the first guy on there Jim Hobbs was a ripping bump skier. Chris Berry had some of the biggest 360's back in the day. All those guys were from Hudson. Fuckin Hobbs had his hair in a mohawk like Plake. So funny now looking back, but cool as hell back then. i wish i had a cleaner version of that video, i could name everyone in it.

BMBP-boo. for the record, the guy in the middle, Glen Novak, represents Team Dummy, not BMBP. thats an old ass picture. Jesus I'm getting old

wow this is soo sick...as is that movie...its crazy how much history is at bmills and all i know of bmills is 97'-present

Very quality Boston Mills stoke being posted here! Nice work.

That documentary video was great. I feel the exact same way as those guys do. I graduated with Mark in the video. Like someone else mentioned, I wish I could get a cleaner version of the old footage, there's got to be some very familiar faces in there. The train footage was the best.

The pic too was nice, I remember Glen Novak. He was older than us but we were always there when he was. I think we used to call him 'swivel' because of his style. He skied with, if I can remember, some guys named Honroff and O'Connor/Connell? LIke I said, they were the slightly older group of regular rippers.

Some of the other names mentioned here bring back some memories of old ski buddies too. It's been 12 years since I called BM my home mountain and it's cool to hear about everyone again.

Not sure if I'll reveal myself just yet as someone requested, but it shouldn't be too hard to guess. I used to drive a black pathfinder and always skied Salomon's.

Keep the BM stoke coming, good stuff!

if i was in the older group of rippers THEN, what's that make me now? oh snap! speaking of Honroth, the best style EVER. and for the record-he's approaching 40 and still kills it.

Yeah he did. Very aggressive style, hard charging. I think I remember him always rocking the yellow and black Scot Schmidt bibs.

When I say older group, I'm not saying that much older at all. If Honroth is approaching 40, then you guys were only a few years older than me.

I've got T H E lawndart on vhs along with some other priceless stuff... all I need is a dvd recorder/ vhs combo and I will post it up. Zarconi is out in Boulder and doesn't really ski much anymore and Chip mentioned Finn lives in LA which is correct. We got a lot of days in last season at Mt High. He still hits it pretty hard after 2 knee injuries.

wow...all these memories we all have! its been great hearin them! but does anyone remember the shuttle bus?! the best ride ever!! the bus would always go so fast on the road to brandywine. you'd hit all the bumps and fly off your seat. it was a shame to see that go too.

That video inspired me to take my High- Def camera to the Mills last night... I'm going to take it tonight hopefully I actually take it out of my car this time.

Anyone going to be there?

Some dude was rocking a helmet and skis with a Jiberish sticker on today. He was ridin 08 AR6's.

Maybe you are on NS? I rid past you with Octolands in all black.

I had a Tru Dat pom beanie and a purple and brown Voleurz crew neck under my jacket. I'll give you a holler next time haha.
