B-52 flew with five nuclear warheads 'by mistake'

it wasent a mistake. they are either doing test runs or moving them so they can fuckin drop them on Iran
 
nah, not actually. the us had B-52s stationed in England but the catch was that they weren't actually capaible of carrying nuclear warheads. It was just a scam to try to keep Stalin in line.
 
the U.S. has about 3000 more than anyone else on the planet....enough to destroy earth like 11 times i think?
 
if it wasn't a mistake it wouldn't be in the news. do you honestly think CNN was sitting on the flight line waiting to check the armament?
 
all the shit with this situation doesn't add up..

oh and heres a fun fact: barksdale afb, where the nukes landed, is the staging base for missions to the middle east aka iran, iraq.
 
no they us has about 3,000 more than all of the other countries in the world combined and it's enough to level the earth 13 times (not including water)
 
I hate how the superpowers always have to out arm the developing country.

get rid of nukes, it takes one oops to destroy the world and cause mutation to the survivors.

 
wtf dude?? no they dont. russia actually has significantly more than the us, although both countries have similar numbers of active warheads
 
my bad, you are correct, however, they do not have the same capability as the U.S. in terms of launching the devices
 
haha I don't doubt that! what I want to know is how much effort it takes to turn an inactive warhead into an active one.. like is an active warhead one that is attached to a launch device while an inactive one is stored away somewhere, or is an inactive one disabled in some way?
 
I'm pretty sure even if the plane went into a nose dive and crashed, the worst thing that could possibly happen would be some fallout with a few miles radius. They have to be explicitly detonated.

Ok, the United States has always had and still does have more nuclear weapon firepower then the rest of the world combined. At the peak of our weapons build up the U.S. could have destroyed the world approximately 30 times. Also at that time there were enough weapons in the air at all times to completely level the soviet union. The Soviet Union at it's max could only destroy the world about 12 times. Both have been de-arming since the 1990's but there is still plenty of firepower out there. While I do not know for sure, I do believe that there are enough nuclear weapons that are ready to be launched/dropped at all times to completely wipe out any obvious threat, within about 30 seconds. I do know that within 50 miles of my house there are enough weapons to destroy Iraq. They are sitting in sub's

China nukes us, even just once, china is gone. But the problem with that is then other countries get pissed at us, and destroy us. It's all an extremely delicate situation. No nukes would be dropped in the middle east, because it's pointless. Think about it, we're going after terrorists who destroy their own cities, what good would destroying the whole thing for them do?

Nukes were dropped in Japan in part to try to prevent a massive invasion of the main islands that would have gotten millions killed. And it was a way to say "The allies won, now don't fuck with us again"
 
When you have the power to destroy the world a couple times you have to take better care of it then this, I'm with congress, not acceptable. No excuses, end of discussion.

And to the kid above me, your right, we could level any country in the world or some of them could level us, but one nuke headed anywhere but the middle of the ocean has the potential to set off the nuclear war which will end the human race.
 
Officially the empire of japan never made an offer of surrender. i forget weather it was a couple of rouge generals or a trapped emperor. Anyway the majority of japan was prepared to fight to the end. As the U.S. forces started to take control of the smaller Jap islands. Almost all the inhabitants would fight to the death or just not surrender. They had built caves into the hills. The US would come to an entrance tell them to come out and they would not, the body's that they would find in there were from kids, teachers schoolchildren, old people, and soldiers alike. In other cases they would have civilians come up to them and offer to surrender then just pull out a grenade and kill themselves and an American or 2.
 
the US lost far too many troops taking over small islands, and after taking okinawa, were horrified at what taking over all of japan would take.

and i never said we would nuke the middle east. I said the opposite, we have nothing to nuke, you can't nuke a hidden enemy. It would achieve nothing, and be a hell of a waste of nuke, and kill far too many innocent people.

but yea, MAD is a horrifying thing really
