i'm about to go on a long trip and need some good suggestions for reading material. Please post any book you loved or thought was incredible or whatever.

So far I only got:

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

Guns, Germs, and Steel

"i hope they serve beer in hell" is supposed to be hilarious my friends is reading it and cant stop, its about this guy who is just teh man, he fucks chicks al the time, theres an entire chapter talking about funny blowjob stories hes had, i cant wait to read it

If you fly-fish, read "A Jerk on One End" by Robert Hughes.

Otherwise:

-A Salty Piece of Land - Jimmy Buffett

-House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski

-11 Seconds - Travis Roy

-Freakonomics - Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner

read "a long way gone". its this memoir about being a child soldier in sierra leone, and its crazy how so much fucked stuff can happen and nobody does anything about it.

definately

and blow is pretty good.

i also liked winesburg, ohio, cuz i really like short stories, and this combines the short story feel into a novel.

the Nick Adams stories from Hemingway are kinda like that.

Eragon and Eldest are amazing books!!!!

Others:

Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, Amber Spyglass

(more for teens but still a really good story).

The Halo Books:

The Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, and Ghosts of Oynx (really sweet backstory to the games)

if your opened minded try The Biggest Secret (its about how the world is secretly ruled by a series of families and they control EVERYTHING about what happens in the to humankind on earth).

anything by david sedaris.

i just started reading wigfield by amy sedaris, stephen colbert, and some guy named paul. it's hilarious.

i read desert sands, or desert storms... dont remember waht it was called..

i guess if it was really good i would know what it was called.. but it was a good book

"one flew over the cuckoos nest" by Ken Kesey is probably my favorite.

catcher in the rye is really short but its a good read.

"please kill me" is interesting and funny

the two books of johnathon safran foer are really good in my opinion. not to hard, but funny and entertaining enough to keep you reading

fuk all these gay ass school books, who ever said "kill a mockingbird" is retarded, no one wants to read that shit when they're asking for a "Super Dope" book.

I havent read much but for a serious book i'd check fight club by chuck Palhuniuk which was suggested to me on this site. Its same as tht movie but better and theres a good amount of talking about sex.

between a rock and a hard place is pretty gnar. by aron ralston

For old-school semi-clean comedy, dave barry is absolutely hilarious.

Like other people said, vonnegut is pretty amazing. His latest book, A Man without a country, was honestly one of the best books i've ever read.

Another old book, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman, is awesome if you know a little bit about physics, even if you don't it's pretty funny.

This is kinda weird but probably by favorite book is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Expury. Whenever I'm feeling like shit I just read it, takes about a half hour, and it seriously just puts things in perspective and totally lifts me up.

point of impact is a good action novel, forget the author though

its also the basis for the new movie "shooter"

Lamb: The Story of Biff, Christs Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore.

This kicks ass, and is much funnier if you even remotely know the Bible.

Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, The Littler Prince by Antoine something, The Old Man and The Sea by Hemmingway... those three are all really quick reads but really just are great reads. Also, the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time is great by Mard Haddon ( i think? it's been a few years) like the kid above said. Jea.

^Scar tissue is a great book, By Anthony Kiedis. Lead singer of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers

It's his life story, it's VERY entertaining.

I'm a big fan of Irvine Welsh, He writes fucked up fiction novels.

Can't forget about Classics like Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Sphere, TimeLine from Michael Crichton.

Stephen King.

jeez.

The Gunslinger is a good series by King too.

Vonnegut

Ishmael by daniel quinn

Demien by Hermen Hesse

Siddhartha by Hesse

anything by OSHO

Way of the Peaceful Warrior - Dan Millman

anything by Carlos Castaneda
