this kid i know hes like 17 and police pulled him over and gave him a breathalizer test and he breathed in instead of breathing out and i guess he got away because nothign read on the breathalizer

Back to the original question. No that will not work. It doesn't have to do with the law, but with how the technology works. The sensor doesn't detect the alcohol content from your mouth, but instead from your lungs. AND WHAT IS THERE ALOT OF IN YOU LUNGS. Yes your right blood circulating. It gauges it essentially from the content in your blood. When you breathe out, it is not just co2 but a lot of other chemicals, Co2 o2, nitrogen, and alcohol. So it doesn't matter if you drank 1 min ago or 1 hour, or if you brushed your teeth. The gadget finds out from your blood...well not directly. So the officer can still bring you in for DUI.

it's strict in california. Mostly due to the fact that there are thousands of cases a month, and countless deaths and injury as a result to drunk driving.

If you refuse the breathelizer here, they will suspend your license and they do have the right to haul you off to jail.

Driving while intoxecated is the stupidest thing a person can do. Getting drunk is fun, but not driving. If you are going to get drunk, don't risk other peoples lives.

you suck on a penny when he pulls you over...the copper on the penny will neutralize your blood alcohal content or something like that and will mess up the breathalizer.

Avoid drinking and driving whenever possible. Driving drunk is one thing, driving with alcohol in your system is another. Use your own discretion to determine when it's ok to drive. You know when you are drunk. And most of all, don't let your one of your friends drive drunk either. Driving while real stoned isn't such a good idea, but while high it's pretty easy.

All of you 12 year olds have no idea, you're fresh from your middle school anti-drug programs. By the way, driving high and drunk are totally different, don't talk about it if you don't even know.

wow lot of myths going around in this thread.. As far as michigan goes for underage there is a ZERO tolerance law, that means any alcohol results in an MIP and if you are driving also results in a DUI, DWI, or one of the couple other classifications of drinking and driving.

the penny is a complete myth, it will not affect a breathalyzer

Contrary to popular belief even one drink will affect your reflex time, whether you think it does or not... it does! It may only be in thousandths of a second but it still does. just because you cant feel anything doesnt mean its not working. This goes for even those with a 'high tolerance' the whole deal with having a high tolerance is because you're killing and dulling your nerves and receptors. 1 beer after 4 years of straight drinking will slow you down just as much if not more than the first beer you ever had.

I am not one to tell anyone how to live their lives but as soon as the way your life may have a not-so-desireable affect on me, i have every right in the world to bitch your ass out.

I dont actually think it takes 20 minutes for alcohol to start cirrculating i think it can start cirrculating alot faster like under 10
