...so millions are to die...and its suposedly gonna happen for sure...and my mum is having too much fun preparing...we now have a stockpile of food, space blankets (i kid you not), gas masks, and she seems to be scouring the internet for Tamiflu or something...anyone else getting a little panicked? (sp)
 
i dont get worked up about anything but the weather....its usually just a bunch of media hype..remember west nile, it still hasn't killed anyone but people who would die from a head cold
 
it isnt able to spread from person to person yet, so im just not to worried and i will stay away from chickens for a while
 
I got in huge trouble for calling it Asian Influenza. I didn't even know it was Avian. And your mom is a freak.

...the space blankets are pretty cool though...
 
It's not nearly as bad as everyone makes out. It suits the media to promote a climate of fear. The actual chances of catching it are so remote.....

if it actually gets going then you could have something like the spainish flu of 1917, 20 million dead economy shuts down cause no one wants to go outside etc.

haha it just reached our local lake and a few birds have died but NOT ONE person is infected yet. so tellyour mom she shouldnt bitch around nothing is gonna happen. millions are to die?haha
 
Pandemia happens a couple of times in a century, last known virus that killed a shitload of people was in the 1950's I think, The Asian or Hong Kong virus. Birds are bad in this case that they are one of the best possible virus spreaders, but just keep away from birds and don't go touching a flock of dead birds and you'll be fine at the moment. If you really wanna prepare, start excercising and getting more healthy so if it reaches pandemia state, your body could be more resiliant towards the virus.

Stockpiling because of an epidemic not even found on the continent you live on is pretty much setting a perfect example of people that rely too much on other people to think for them.
 
yea my friend was freaking out about it a week or to ago.. it was kinda funny cuz he was taking it really seriously and hes like i should start getting shit rdy and im never goin to leave my house and such lol
 
where the fuck have you been, this was a national security problem like in jan! its pretty much over now, and all the govt did was scare us with it so they could keep up other shit without us knowing
 
I'm not going to argue with you (cause it's being hyped) but if it starts spreading between humans, continent won't really matter too much.

and it has a pretty name "h5n1", I'll put on under my "y2k" tee.
