If anyone can answer this, you can have full karma from me, not that anyone cares about that anyways. I need it for an economics project I'm doing, and I cant really find an answer anywhere.
Please help!

today in a business class we sorta talked about this. if i remember right, opening a franchised restaurant typically costs like $75,000 to $110,000, with $15k going towards the franchise fee. not sure if that helps at all but i thought id throw it out there

are you talking explicit cost or total cost? because with total cost you also need to take into account the money that would have been made on your money staying in a bank account.

if your just talking explicit costs then I believe the figure is in the 80,000's (appx). but it really depends on what kind of restaurant it is and how large the kitchen/dining room is, the cost of land or rent, the franchise fee and a whole multitude of other things.

a family friend of ours is considering bringing the chick fil a franchise to kansas city, and to purchase rights and open 5 standalone locations was going to be $1.8m i believe. larger restaurants like a montgomory inn are a lot more expensive though

now I am sure that most NSers are buisness owners, and that thier ambiguous ideas of restaraunt operating costs are probibally spot on....but I would suggest using a scholarly reviewed article, or a website ending in .org or .edu. If this is for school that is. but hey, its been a while since high school, i could be wrong

Subway advertises a lot for opening your own franchise. I would check their website as I'm sure they have information on the start up costs. Hang on...i'll even do it.

This link will help you out big time...http://www.subway.com/subwayroot/Development/faqs/index.aspx

They say the franchising fee is $15,000.The capital required to actually purchase a location and the proper equipment varies, but they say it can be as low as $78,600.
That seems pretty damn low...I'm guessing over $100,000 at least on average but I'm sure you could e-mail them and tell them you're doing a school project and need questions answered...companies are usually open to help in that situation
