I was just thinking about a kid in my neihborhood named rich joneswho died this winter at an avalanche at Brighton ski resort. I was skiing that same day at The Canyons completely oblivios to the devastatement that was going on only a few miles away. His only brother and him had a cabin right outside of brighton and they would go there all the time. but then tragedy struck when his 16 year old brother was killed in a motercycle last summer. Rich was now 19 and loved snowboarding with all his younger brothers friends. So on this fateful day they were in the backcountry building kickers when an 8 feet deep about 200 feet wide slab broke off above them. Out of 9 or 10 people 2 were trapped and killed. The other teenager who was killed was found against atree with both femurs shattered. It's hard to imagine that with no warning two of my brothers friends were and the ir parents left childrenless. It just mankes you think.

what were they doing in the backcountry? They shouldn't have been there with out the proper know-how.

yeah I remember that, my sisters boyfriend knew him, I was skiing at Park City that day. I was also discouraged to go out of bounds, They were only like 50 feet out of bounds though, but that is all it took
