Their injuries were reported to be minor, according to Bob Pearce of the B.C. Ambulance Service.

Pearce said park wardens and members of the ski patrol, assisted by search dogs, were searching for the missing skiers.

The slide occurred Saturday in Glacier National Park, east of Revelstoke, in the Rogers Pass area known as Knock Creek.

Seven people died in a January 20th avalanche in the same area of east-central British Columbia.

i just took an avalanche course over the weekend. it was pretty basic but it opened my eyes to how much i didn't know, especially with using my transciever. i would recommend that anyone who does backcountry get educated so stuff like this doesn't happen. sure they were in the mountains and having fun but dying in an avalanche can be pretty horrible from what i know. be careful and learn as much as you can.

Did they have transivers or probes and other avalaunche equitment? It doesnt really sound like they did. But it is a horrible accident and it makes me think more when I go to the backcountry.

They all had trancivers, and avi equipment. All the teachers with them had alot of backcountry experience.

skiing is just another way to please yourself without the mess.

it is soo easy to avoid avalanches. I know what i'm talking about too. I have my level two. If you get caught in a slide your a dumbass.

hey phrosty not everybody who gets caught in a slide is a dumbass. craig kelly the 4 time world champ in snowboarding who was killed in the other bc avalanche a few weeks ago was training to be a guide. to my understanding their were several other guides in the party of 20+ and almost all of them were buried. the mountains can be very unpredictable even if you have the experience. i agree with a comment in the seattle times that if you go out in the backcountry a lot you're just playing with the odds. its a worthy cause to risk your life but can be deadly for anyone.

Its horrible, they were all kids your age.

The teachers leading them all had the skills and experience to be out there, and they consulted local park officials who gave them the go-ahead.

It was a natural slide which means they didn't trigger it, they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Made in Tasmania.

** I personally believe skiing is gaining soul. It's great to see racers ripping the pipe and boarders crossing over to skiing. If anything is taking away from the soul of skiing, it's the skiers who are in it for the wrong reasons, and the ones who are in chat rooms bagging on other people's style when they should be skiing **

phrosty, if you know so much, explain what happened to craig kelly and what he did wrong.
