does anybody have a tracker the digital one for sale? If not does anybody know of somebody that could get them at a good price? Thanks.

 
they are a necessary item and do not go on sale much at all. just go buy one for full price, buying used wouldnt be smart at all.

yeah, figure you'll spend around $300 no matter what. Lots of places rent them out though for like $20 a weekend (like marmot in washington)

yeah, go to some Canadian retail websites like REI or mountain equipment, they have them fairly cheap in comparrison to other places.

they are too damn expensive, i mean the dts has been on the market for a few years now and the price hasn't dropped. bullshit just buy an avalung, their only 100 bones and you can stay alive for hours, plenty of time to work a grid and be found.

Does anyone have a broken avalance beacon? I would like to have a look inside one and see how tough it would be to build one. I am a robotics/electronics student, so I have access to all of the necessary materials. If you have one, give me a shout, send me a message!

There's no way I would rely on just an avalung. What if it gets pulled out of your mouth when you're getting spanked inside the avalanche? What if you don't get it there before you get hit? What if it folds during your swim so you can't breath through it. What if you're burried to deep for a grid search? It's not a solution but it's a possible helper for a situation. Beacons are by far the best avalanche death prevention tool.

My mate has a broken Ortovox one. I'll see if he'd be keen to part with it.

Yeah what if a 200 lb. slab of ice crushes you? I guess you could jsut get comfortable with your avalung and wait it out. That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

 
i would never in my life use an avalung let alone depend on it. The best way to get a beacon cheap is at trade shows, ask the people at the booth to cut you a deal, thats how I got my trekkers cheap
