have you guys noticed that when you go to buy cars it's harder and harder to get manual? Pretty soon they're not even gonna sell it any more, especially with like fuel injection technology on automatics and stuff.

First of all cars with manual transmissions are cheaper to buy. Secondly they are cheaper to maintain and the actualy transmission lasts longer. Automatic cars lose power in the slippage between the driveshaft and the gearbox robbing you of your god given horsepower. Also many advanced driving and shifting techniques such as double clutch downshifting can not be done with automatics. It's more of whether you drive to go places or you go places to drive.

i can drive stick if i need to, but i prefer auto cause they are easier to drive when you are drunk

anyway, I would prefer stick most of the time, but in some cars I just wouldn't bother. most SUVs I would like an auto, unless it was a performance SUV like an X5 or an infiniti FX. but any other car besides SUVs/trucks you gotta go stick.

haha, i was in san francisco last summer, and i was walking up some hill, and a lady in a manual had to stop about 20 feet from the top of one of the inclines (the hill was super steep) and she just couldnt get going again. she kept laying a patch when she started up, then stalled and rolled back before trying again. i laughed so fuckin hard, it was great. i still like manuals better though

5speed. I'll never go back. Theres nothing more fun than running 1st through 3rd gear all the way to redline getting on the highway. It keeps you more concentrated on the road. If you're too distracted while driving to drive a stick than you shouldn't be on the road in the first place. Idiots that do things like talk on the phone and such while driving are the ones that cause the fuckin problems in traffic. I was cruising at 85 mph yesterday night and some chick comes blowing past me in a Maxima talking on the cell phone while doin something else, she was all over the fucking road doing 100mph+... you can be sure to hell she wouldn't have been doing that had it been a MTX seeing as she wouldn't have been distracted by the phone.

I like manual much better when driving a car. but when im just crusin around in the suv listening to music or comming home from skiing i dont care about being connected with the car i just wanna chil. The real question is what do you people like better offroading? stick or auto. Ive have 2 toyota 4runners 1 stick 1 auto and stick is usually better for offroading but there are just some places when autos are the only thing to use.
