Autistic kid gets voted out of kindergarten

I lol'd

But anyways i dont think that they should be able to sue them. It would be for almost nothing and someone would end up paying million for the kids mom.

I still think that the teacher did wrong and she should be punished in some way

i am just going to throw this out there but our gene pool is getting fucked up...disease is running rampent because everyone is surviving, not just the strong and physically attractive...eventually our gene pool is going to be so fucked up, to the point where everyone has aids, cancer, autism, we will just be a bunch of fucked up indiviuals

autistic people aren't retarded, most are actually smarter than normal. they look normal too. they just have a hard time interacting with other people.

go watch rainman.

major error on the teachers point,

i would assume that the kid was making it hard for her to continue class,

taking him out of the classis perfectly acceptable.

but spurring kindergarteners to criticize their classmate and humiliate him

is not ok regardless of mental disabilites.

That feels like an indirect attack on the child because the teacher could not handle the student.

Teachers need to get paid more so they arent so damn mediocre.

Haha, how could she have thought that was a good way to handle it...

I donno though, Autistic kids can appear very normal at first and so it makes sense that the kids just thought he was plain obnoxious. Two of my best friends between the age of like 7-10 were autistic and if you only just knew them you'd never know but... the more you got to know them, the more you realized that they had huge issues. I mean they had SEVERE autism too, one would have to take a break every half hour or so to go rock back and forth for awhile, like there were some problems.

The most noticeable side effect of autism is an inability to handle and interact normally in social situations, so that teacher pretty much ruined that kid. Literally the worst thing she could've done given his diagnosis. Even if he ends up not being autistic, having the entire class speak openly about a student and directly call him out so that he realizes his entire class hates him at FIVE YEARS OLD!? Fuck that. Fuck. That. She better get sued, and I HATE lawsuits.

HAHAHHA, I never read all the responses, so happy you pointed out this absolutely fantastic spelling. Assburgers... YES.

Because it's stupid fucking comments like yours that are meant to be harmless but people take as truth and then an ignorant thread like this happens.

Does everyone seriously think that if you have autism you are some incoherant, drooling, retard? If you do maybe you should read a book, hell an episode of Scrubs taught me more about autism than most of the people who posted here do. It isn't some debilitating disease that makes you shout out things. There are many different levels of the condition and each one needs to be treated differently.

This teacher was just an ignorant fool for what she did. But the blame isn't all on her. More than likely the school handed her the kid and said "good luck, just don't hit the kid" and left it at that. It's fucking disgusting an adult would put a defenseless child through that kind of humiliation and degredation. Something should happen to the teacher, but I can be almost positive that nothing will; because nothing ever happens.....

Oh, I know... but you didn't REALLY think that the disease name simply combined to of the most mundane words in the English language, "Ass" and "Burgers" did you?

nopers,

but it sounds like it and at the same time makes me chuckle every time i hear it. Who would name a disease that sounds like that? I do love both tho(no homo)

so damn messed up. ive known an autistic kid since i was in kindergarten. i mean, sure sometimes they say stuff thats wrong or whatever, but i feel bad. this is one of the shittiest things ive read on NS, and some of the sutff ive read has been bad.

my friends brother literally woke up one morning and wasnt able to communicate.

the question about whether he could have told his parents about it depends if hes "functioning" or not if the kid has asburgers syndrome then hes considered "high functioning" this generally means that they are brilliant, but have problems connecting socially. Bill gates has asburgers syndrome sooo to for people to say theydont belong in the same class....haha yeah, theres a good chance he'll be running the world one day

just another case where something completely gets blown out of proportion and the circumstances are ignored.

you can have many degrees of autism. I knew a kid with asperger's in high school. he was fucking annoying. he was perfectly capable of acting normal too, it was very mild. at what point does autism stop being an excuse for acting obnoxiously? we do not know the full story, and obviously she didn't handle the situation well, but this might not be the crime of the century people are making it out to be.

maybe the kid was autistic, but if he wasn't, would still be annoying or mean. no way to tell from this story

this is very plausible, the kid could have been a huge ass so the teacher kicked him out and when he went home he cried and told his mom all about how he was "voted out and verbaly assulted".

Half of me says the teacher is a bitch, but half of me hates autistic kids. The teacher shouldn't have allowed the "voting" to have happened, but I'm tired of the way "special needs" kids are put on a pedestal. In my school, there were about 4 or 5 full time staff members/teachers who only work with the 10-20 "special needs" students. Shit like that pisses me off. They put soooooo much funding to the bottom end of the intelligence spectrum, but completely ignore the needs of the upper end. Part of my feelings are because I'm at the upper end, but damn. Please, don't try and say I can go out and get a better education for myself outside of school on my own, and even go above and beyond in school. Trust me, I try. But sitting in a classroom for 7 hours learning at a pace 5x too slow gets old fast.

Ya know, I wasn't going to post for a while to keep my count at "6666" just for laughs, but I had to say how much I agreed to this.

It seemed like back in my grade school days, all the gifted kids did was more of the same work and progress only slightly faster than the rest of the group because the teacher had to attend to the those at the lower level. If the gifted kids had more one-on-one interaction, they could excel past the rest of the class. I feel having more extremely intelligent students is more important than classes for those who will more than likely never reach a level where they are productive.

Maybe this is just a "gifted" kid ranting. Maybe those kids need teachers too...
