Austrailian- New Zealand relations

im watching Flight of the Conchords and one of the guys, jemaine i think, gos out with an austrailian and all his other new zealander friends have a problem with herbeing australian

Any idea why?
 
hahaha we live like across a narrow strait, rivalry in sport and other things just makes this, haha i am a kiwi living in aus and i get alot of shit lol but its all in fun and games, its kinda like canada and the us, but a bit more comedic haha
 
^ its funny cause a strong aussie accent is just so much worse than a strong kiwi one
 
any mockeries or hating is all in a good manner, if i meet an aussie theres always friendly banter, its just the way shit is, we mock them and they mock us... but its like brotherly mocks, we dont like hate each other or nothing, we just prefer to mock them rather than love them..its all g

but aussies do sound like faggits

haha yea, but mine isnt strong so i dnt sound too bad, all my cousins pay me out, but i can put on a pretty good kiwi accent and for some reason i still say some words in a kiwi accent
 
haha im sure glad i don't have a aussie accent

but yeah, its just good natured taking the piss. australians like to think they're better than us and we like to prove them wrong. in all seriouseness though, I think that overall nz is a better developed country than aus. like go outside of the big cities in australia and they're like hick towns. sure one or two towns in nz are like that (gore comes to mind) but no as many. most of our small towns are nice.

aussie guys are probabbly in general hotter though lol
 
every1 lives in like 6 cities, if you dnt yea your pretty much hick, plus no1 really lives inland, like 3 ppl live in the out back, crocadile dundee and a couple of abos.
 
Haha It's mainly just playful. Theirs rivalary because both countries are reasonably close and matched in sport. For most of us it's nothing serious. I have an Aussie accent but it's no where near a strong one, close to an english accent haha.
 
Haha. I like the epizode where Brett and Jermaine try and buy an apple from the fruit stand but they aren't allowed since the guy thinks they are from Austraillia. Thats probably my favorite one. :)

i spent some time in NZ. it was funny. i was on a chairlift and these people were like... i wanna guess where you from, but i dont know if its America or Canada... we laughed

then we're like so... uhhhhh... new zealand or Aussie (cuz we met quite a few aussies skiing in NZ). they laughed too.
