Its the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the nazi extermination camp in poland, where millions of jews, whether they were kids, old, young, killed just for the sake of killing. Just thought id let everyone know cuz its a truly fucking monstruosity that was commited, so RIP to all those who died in there.

when i went to israel over the summer we went to a whole bunch of holocaust museums...thats some fucked up shit.

in fact...many of them didn't in the beginning...my great grandfather was in on of te camps, we still have his #tag...his family had no idea where he was until he showed up completely underfed a couple years later

I think it sucks how when people think of the holocuast they only remeber the jews.

Calculations have show that for every jew that died there where 1.3 (or so) non Jews who died.

the reason they rememebr the jews though is because it may be true that 1.3 people died for every jew but those 1.3 people who died were not all from the same background. The 1.3 people for every jew were a mix of different people. It's terrible that anyone died but they rememebr the jews becuase they were the most harmed because of the amounts of jewish people killed.

In Los Angeles there is an awesome Holocaust Museum when you come in you are givin a type of Atm card and you go through the museum like if you were going through Aushwitz. at different steps they have machines that you put your card into and it gives you an update on your persons situation like you arrive at the first checkpoint and theres written something like you are seperated from your mother or loved one. eventually you get to a step where it either says you were killed or freed and if you servived you get to see the latest picture of your person. its very moving because the person really existed and went through all of these things. all their information comes from diaries that they found at auswitz.

my person was 9 when he was sent to Auswitz (they give you a kid if your a kid and an adult if your an adult) and I was one of the few kids from my group whos person survived. it was kind of sadening to see your friend put his card into the machine and onscreen it says something like 'your mother wrote in her diary: My son was taken to the medical wing 5 days ago that is the last time I have ever seen him'

if you ever have the chance to go to this museum you should its the Los Angeles Holocaust museum they have more than only the Holocaust they have other things about Hate and such. very moving experience

it would def. be an eye-opener to those museums, for sure, i know it's still hard to imagine that it happened, i know it did, but on like such a massive level, we're so habituated to violence and death nowadays from the media.

When I lived in France we saw a movie on what life was like in those camps they had some footage that the germans took while the camps were running and they had some footage of the Allies frring people.

one part that shocked everybody in class was the alies using bulldozers to push hundreds of dead bodies into a mass grave. Also a very moving documentary. it had like 2 hours of footage from Auscwitz. I think it was called black cloud or Black something. ill post the name of it if I remember it.

 
I was in auswitch, birkenau, ravensbrück and another camp the week before halloween. i was som serious fucked up shit.

word. ive been there too. its sad its become such a tourist attraction...especially Auschwitz, with fastfood places around and such. Birkeneau still retains much of its horror and emotion however.

when i visited amsterdam, i went to the anne frank house, and there were pictures of bergen belsen, where she died, and its just piles of discarded bodies from the gas chambers, and piles of glasses, gold teeth and shoes taken from the deceased... its unimaginable how these people (nazis, german ss) could have such a disregard for human lives, especialy when their oders were coming from a short, brown haired brown eyed half jew to begin with...

a million people died at auschwitz, a million innocents, and its one of the monstrosities that will scar humanity for ever...

i had the honor of meeting a survivor of Dora, a work camp where they worked on the german V2 rocket that blitzed london, and i can assure you his and every other human beings lives are worth as much as any others, regardless of gender, skin color or religion...

i met a holocaust surviver this summer and her story was crazy. she had gone from germany when she was like 4 or 5 and taken to auschwitz but then escaped and went to like poland or something and then eventually came to the US. she had never met her real parents and was never with the same family for a long period of time. the way she told her story was incredible.

^yo yo guy I agree genocides happen all the time and are happening right now but what made the Holocaust so amazing was that they ran it like an assembly line. and they had so many people working for the effort because very few people saw the whole picthure. Thats where alot of people dissagree on things who is in guilty of this crime? is the person train conductor who shipped the people off to Auschwitz as guilty as the guy who took the watches when they came in, and are those two as guilty as the person who made new more eficient gasses. very scary to think that of the thousands of people who took part in all this are still alive today.

not true, there arn't many but definately more than that. I saw a parade this year with D-day survivors. Maybe just Americans? There were also British, Kiwis, Aussies etc.

there was a show about Aushwitz last night on PBS i think, it was interesting, we are studying anne frank and WW2 in english. I heard it on the radio too when they said that it was the 60th year since the liberation.

 
I am so fascinated with World War 2 and especially the concentration camps. If you haven't seen 'Schindler's List' you definitely need to. It's such a realistic depiction of how life was for Germans in the camps and how terrifying it must have been. I was really impressed with this thread. RIP.

One of his experiments would be injecting one twin with all these chemicals and let that one die. Immediately he would kill the other twin and compare the autopsies and the inside of the bodies. HE experiment with genets and all that shit. He also evaded persecution at war trial because he did not have the SS tattoo on his arm. Yeah, speaking of fuck up experiments at Auschwitz’s. I think that in WW2 the total was something like 60-70 million. Russia, or Soviet Union at the time, alone lost approximately 20 million.

bout half my family dies in concentration camps... my grandpa survived and had an amazing story, he wrote a book that was published in hungary about it

Josef Mengele was also known as the 'Angel of Death'. Definetly one of the most notorious and gruesome SS doctors. I don't know how a human being could do the stuff he did. Rest in peace to all those who died during the Holocaust and WWII.
