August 10 Timberline public park update

My brother and I hiked up to the public park at Timberline again on Sunday. Since last week, there have been some significant changes. There is no longer a public pipe. They have also moved the jibs above the jump line. There were a total of 5 set - at the top was the mailbox set up canon style to gap to flatbox (cool feature - I saw disasters, lots of switch ups and some people airing out the flatbox entirely). In the middle was a pair - on the left the flat bar up - gap - flat and on the right was the left banked c box. At the bottom was a flat bar on the right and the urban setup single barrel down rail with donkey dick on the left. The jumps were the same as last weekend (double take-off 35 and 25 at the top and a single take off larger jump - size still debatable because we didn't pace it out). They have now added a decent sized quarterpipe below the lower jump - it can be hit as either a quarter or as a right side hip.

It is now impossible to ride to the parking lot - but it is only about 100 yards or so of walking from the end of the snow.

Sound about right, ponyboy? Does anyone find it ironic that I am the one doing park updates for our neighbor/competitor :P

Incidentally, the park guys were chilling in a tent by the jibs. As I am still waiting for a ruling on the true legality of hiking the park (cite me some case law), my brother and I respectfully abstained from hitting the park and just sat on the rocks drinking Hurricane Ice ($1.74 for 24oz at the Flying J in Troutdale) and watching the shred. We later hiked up above the Windell's park - I imagine that is what park skiing in heaven would be like (but with a rope tow) - and rode down the palmer to the mile and back to the parking lot. I absolutely did not poach the top jump line in the Windell's park (small but really well shaped) and in no way did I hit the jumps (brilliantly constructed) and quarterpipe when we rode down past the public park to the parking lot.

Check out the DOS Media Mt Hood edit - Bentley (Jebus man, you have the most British name I have ever heard - bangers and mash, anyone?) and eheath (I think) were up there filming on what looks to be all the parks that were up at the beginning of August (Windell's, MHSSC and Public) and you can see a lot of the features and jibs in that edit.

Nicely done guys!
