Audi A8, Mercedes S Class, or BMW 7 Series?

i think this beat your BMW and Mercedes... gotta say

In the last quarter of 2005, Audi previewed the latest Typ 4E S8 5.2 FSI quattro, based on its Volkswagen Group D3 platform stablemate, the Audi A8. Factory production commenced June 2006.

Audi's factory performance claims for the V10 S8 indicate a 0-100 kilometres per hour (62.1 mph) time of 5.1 seconds whilst consuming "SuperPlus" / "EuroSuper" 98 RON unleaded petrol. This places the S8 in a competitive range with the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and S600 (powered by a twin-turbo V12), the BMW 760Li (powered by a naturally-aspirated 12-cylinder engine), and the company's own A8L W12. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (160 mph).

[edit] Powertrain

Motive power in this latest S8 powertrain features an all aluminium alloy 5,204 cc (317.6 cu in) Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) 40-valve (four valves per cylinder) 90° V10 petrol engine (parts code: 07L, identification code: BSM), derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 litre V10. A longer stroke and wider bore increases the displacement of the engine, and produces more torque

at lower revs, making it more suitable for the larger and heavier Audi

luxury executive passenger car. It has been retuned to produce 331 kilowatts (450 PS; 444 bhp) at 7,000 rpm, and 540 newton metres (400 ft·lbf) of torque at 3,500 rpm. It utilises twin chain-driven double overhead camshafts (DOHC), and variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust valves. Engine management is by way of Bosch Motronic MED 9.1 engine control unit, which controls the mapped direct ignition, ten individual spark coils, common rail cylinder-direct sequential mulit-point fuel injection, and drive by wire throttle.

This same engine is also used in the latest Audi S6 (D6), but in a slightly lower state of tune where it develops 320 kW (435 PS; 429 bhp).

A sports-optimised ZF 6HP26 six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission (parts code: 09E, identification codes: KLW or KZK) (gear ratios

- 1st: 4.171, 2nd: 2.340, 3rd: 1.521, 4th: 1.143, 5th: 0.867, 6th:

0.691) with "Dynamic Shift Programme" (DSP) and "sport" mode, with steering wheel mounted paddle-shifters, is the only offering. Output is transmitted via Audi's trademark quattro permanent four-wheel drive system, initially using the Torsen T-2 50:50 dynamic centre differential, and from 2008 model year, utilising the latest Torsen T-3 asymmetric dynamic centre differential, with a 'default' torque distribution of 40% to the front axle

and 60% to the rear. Final drive ratio is 4.055, and traction is

assisted with Audi's "Electronic Differential Lock" (EDL) and

"Anti-Slip Regulation" (ASR) (commonly known as traction control system) - both functions of the Bosch ESP 5.7 (or the later ESP 8.0) Electronic Stability Programme.

[edit] Suspension, steering, brakes, tyres

The S8, like its related A8, utilises a multi-link suspension

layout front and rear, with pressurised air springs. However, for the

S8, the effective spring and damper rates are noticeably firmer, along

with re-engineered suspension mounts. "servotronic" speed-dependent power assisted rack and pinion steering point the S8 in the desired trajectory.

The brake system consists of radially ventilated discs all round, the fronts sized at 385 millimetres (15.2 in)

in diameter by 36 mm (1.42 in) thick, and the rears at 335 mm (13.2 in)

by 22 mm (0.87 in). The discs are clamped with black painted

dual-piston calipers up front, and a single-piston sliding caliper at

the rear, coupled to an electro-mechanical parking brake. A Bosch ESP 5.7 (later upgraded to ESP 8.0) Electronic Stability Programme, with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) complete the brake system.

Optional "Audi ceramic" Carbon fibre-reinforced Silicon Carbide

(C/SiC) composite front and rear brakes are available, which use 380 mm

(14.96 in) diameter by 38 mm (1.496 in) thick drilled, vented, and

floating SGL Carbon discs, with grey painted six-piston fixed Brembo monobloc alloy calipers with the "Audi ceramic" logo up front, and 356 mm (14.02 in) by 28 mm (1.102 in) discs at the rear.

Standard alloy wheels consist of 9Jx20" cast aluminium alloy "S design", shod with either 265/35ZR20 99Y XL performance tyres (either Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, or Yokohama Advan Sport), or 275/35ZR20 102Y XL (Continental SportContact2, Dunlop SP SportMaxx, or Pirelli P-Zero Nero). A direct-acting tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is also standard.

they limit most of there cars to 155 mph to keep the German green party happy, it also makes the car cheaper because you don't have to put parts capable of 185 on it.

hahah, this car def doesn't beat the Mercedes S65, it just ties the

MB's little brothers. Actually, it doesn't even do that, the S63 goes

0-62 in 4.6... S65 goes 0-62 in 4.4

there was a recent article on this in car and driver or road and track i forget which one but im pretty sure the a8 took the win.

for some reason when i read the thread title i thought it said Audi R8 and was like really? Is that even a question?

I wanna see pics of a lambo motor in an Audi. I really do. Does that even bolt it? You would have to do so much to get all the hoses and everything to hook up.

Are you sure its not a S6? The 8 was only sold in Germany, the S6 was sold in the US with a Lambo engine modded by Lambo. Lambo and Audi are owned by the same company.

yea but its smaller right? so its not in the same class... Both of those Audis are really sick tho, but Mercedes is just hands down the best all around car company to me, they make everything from mini vans to the SLR and have an AMG version for most models

The Audi

but if your lookin for a sweet car look at the R8

well thats not really fair... thats like having a lamborghini shittier sheet metal...

and s class all the way. but its gotta be AMG

If we're doing top of the line cars for each company, then the SLR McLaren rapes the shit out of anything either audi or bmw makes

audi own Lamborghini so you could say that the murcialago is an audi, and that is better then a slr.

fuck you, dont break the rules here.

if audi wanted to be considered lambo, then they would combine the two, not keep two separate manufacturers.

Better yet, how about the veyron? Bugatti, lambo, bently and audi are all part of volkswagen

no no, we're not doing top of the line, we're doing cars compared to their equal car.

Audi doesn't really make a car comparable to the SLR

Audi makes the Q7 and Q5, which compares to X3 and X5, and what ever the benz SUV's are

Then Audi makes the a4/6/8 which compares to the bmw 3/5/7 series, and what ever the benz cars are (i dont really know the benz models that well)

then there are some other models and what not, so compare to some other models and what not

Lotus' are sick and they are not too expensive... they are around 40 to 60 grand just like most BMW's.

some 7 series have an infarred camera that pops up night vision on heads up display. most of the shit they put into cars are really expencive gimmics but that shits baller!

Stock, i would say the S65. but if it wasnt stock i'd say this car...

brabus-bullit-black-arrow-hl.jpg

the brabus bullit. basically a tuned C class merc (C63 amg). it has 700+ hp, goes well over 200mph, and it comes in that color from brabus in the 'black arrow' model.
