Audi A4 wagon, ski box?

Who drives an A4 wagon, and how do you deal with carrying skis?

Just picked up an 06 with less than 40K, 6 speed manual and my skis are never going to fit.

Smart's are surprisingly apt at carrying skis.

I fit 1-2 pair of skis and a snowboard in my civic, with enough room to have two passengers. It cant be too hard

fold down the rear seat(s) and they'll fit. Or if you dont want your skis inside the car get a roof rack.

really... ......

i can fit a passenger and two pairs of skis in my miata and get up to the mountain. i only did it once during the summer, in the winter i use my dads car, but still if i can manage in a small two seater you can manage in a wagon

I have a B5 avant and it has a ski bag in the console in between the rear seats to put the skis in so the car doesn't get dirty. Full blown ski-mobile. Or you could just get a roof rack.

you should definitely have a sleeve in the armrest, ours has one in the middle of the back seat, i found it after we'd had the car for a while.

I can easily fit my 186 race skis in my Mazda 3 which is probably 3 feet shorter than your wagon. I think you're fine.

It's an awesome ski car and there is plenty of room for skis. But I'd still get a roof box for it if I had one. And I almost did; I strongly considered trading my current car for one. It's really good on gas (though it calls for premium).

Your interior will eventually get all messed up from wet skis and muddy ski boots. At least get a rack, a Thule box won't sack your mileage as bad though. Racks full of skis equals slow car on the freeway

It's got the S4 suspension at least. I was looking hard at an S4 but that V8 is a thirsty engine.

I obviously could make it work with skis on the inside, but I don't want to do that. It's not as big in the back as a lot of you think too. Something like 150-160cm long with the seats folded down. Where all my skis are in the 185-190's. I don't want to have to deal with ski tips up by the gear stick. So I want to put them on the roof.

Aslo I haven't found the ski bag. I haven't really look for it either as I'm not really interested in putting skis inside the car. I found the first aid kit, so i'll look for the ski bag now.

My problem is finding a box that doesn't interfere with the hatch opening and can hold 4 pairs of fat skis.

I like the Thule Sonic Alpine, but the fit guide says it's too big. basically anything over 160cm is too big,

I can deal with a little bit of interference but I'm hoping someone has done the leg work to find out which box is best.

Leaning towards the yakima lopro titanium, but it says will only fit with the cheaper ugly crossbars, not the whisper bars.

I also live in the interior of BC and ski anywhere from baker/whistler to wh20/KH. So I drive a lot and don't want my skis on the roof unprotected.

I used to have an a6 wagon, we had a box for a while, recently got rid of it and sometimes use the built in bag or keep it flat. I just got an a4 wagon last spring, and I am trying to figure out what to do. I don't really want to do a box again because I don't like the look as much, and they add a ton of drag. I also need to get a new bike rack, so I will have to consider that. It might be easiest to just get the clamp style ones and then wipe off your skis every time. I also want to find ones that are low profile incase I get lazy and leaver them on, and I just don't want them sticking out super far. Last thing to remember is that a box will usually cover your sunroof, if that matters to you.
