Well, Ad-Aware is a beautiful program until it eats something it shouldn't... I ran the system scan after being spammed by some yahoo account, it was really weird the way it happened. I think it tried to come through my local POP3 server, which is strange b/c I use a hotmail account, and never Outlook Express.

Anways, now when I reboot Norton Antivirus is not on Auto-Protect, so it decides to shut the entire computer down BECAUSE C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe is messed up and terminated itself with Status Code 128. Now, I know lsass.exe is an application run by the System. Other than that, I'm totally lost.

Any suggestions would be fantastic, I really don't want to lose all my art and music.

Boot to the xp cd and just reinstall the OS, all your files will still be there.

Or, take your HD to a friends system and back all your stuff up, wipe it clean and reinstall the OS, then put everything back.

well it matters what kidn of computer you hve if its a compaq or hp you would contact your local area computer manufacteu i know how to make it work but seeing as your probably 20-4000 miles away from me its not possible if you have a mac scrwe you get a new computer is what i say for dells contact and for aleinware computers well they kick @$$ so you odnt have to worry about them!!!!!!!;)

Or maybe if you knew what file it was you could just extract it from the windows cabinet files. Spybot search and Destroy kills adaware anyday

 
dave 1080, the ad aware and zone alarm are not even remotly the same. Ad Aware will get RID of all the spyware, while zone alarm will simply block thenm from comunicating out (and that fails if the program masks itself, which a lot do). therefroe the program will still be running, and eating up memory.

Its a good idea to just wipe clean every 2-3 months anyways, over time so much crap builds up in your registry and on your hard drive that you dont even need.

^ dude you are dumb, you keep arguing to get rid of norton and get zonealarm when zonealarm acts as a firewall stopping all incomming conenctions. norton is an anti-virus program, which i NEEDED on every system to keep things right. so what ur saying is get rid of anti-virus software and have no protection against viruses when they do get on your computer? zone alarm is NOT i repeat NOT going to stop viruses (LAUGH, LAUGH) it will simplily allow you to grant access to the net to various programs. since viruses come over then net im pretty sure your going to have the internet open to connection thus not stopping incoming viruses. this is when you use norton to scan for them. so why not have zonealarm and norton and ad-aware 6.0? hmmm i wonder... cuz their is no bad remark to that since you need all 3. so next time you think your all computer guru and try and tell someone to delete their most valued piece of software(Norton Anti-Virus) just look at your self in a mirror and repeat over and over again 'I AM NO COMPUTER GENIOUS, I ONLY THINK I AM SINCE I OWN A COMPUTER AND KNOW HOW TO GET ONTO A MSG FORUM ie newschoolers.

are you fucking retarded? norton protects against and allows you to diasble viruses. Zone alarm, as I said before, only blocks off the computer. it does not prevent viruses.

i dont give a shit about antivirus stuff. i'm talking firewalls (zonealarm vs. norton.) norton does not let you configure shit. it configure's itself to what IT thinks you want. it's a proven fact that Zone Alarm is better than Norton. I was just letting him know...so lick my balls.

ok first of all that dave guy is about at dumb as the shit i took this morning you need antivirus on your computer when you connected to the internet and as far as the fire wall shit your a dumb ass too!! as for the dude with the problem if your running xp boot from your cd and reinstall the operating system and it is a good idea to take it to a friends and back it up just for safty sake! and now to get started on the mack comment your all a bunch of fucking nimrods who dont know shit! if macs are so much better tell me why they make a program to simulate a pc for it we dont have that for a pc to simulate as a mac because we dont need it!

 
i got nortons internet security with the anti virus and firewall and all that shit and works really good. and it does let you configure access for differnt programs and stuff like that. if your computer is all messed up ur better off jus doing a total reformat and start fresh, then install a antivirus program and firewall so hopefully u odnt have these problems again

 
^^freezy thats where u are wrong, maybe back a few years but new technology has come about for PC's. the Atlon 64 now has 64bit transfer rate which is 2 times faster than before. now the Atlon 64 FX is some killer processing shit with 2mb cache and some of the fastest processing speeds available. shit the processor alone costs $800. but soon you will see mac will be obsolet becasue new technology is in the making. it is called Nano Technology. based around using carbon atoms to form nano tubes. now these nano tubes are 1/100th the thickness of shiny foil you can pull off a gum wrapper. yes this is unseen by the naked eye and needs special instruments even to be seen. once nano technology starts kicking off the processor speeds will be Terabytes not Gigabytes. the only reason they are not now is because nano technology is soo small that it cost about $1 million just to build a single chip. right now engineers, botonist, physisits, biologist, computer eng are all combining together to figure out how to build these nano tubes from the top to bottom instead of bottom to top which they are doing right now. nano technology came into play some 20 years ago when it was first discovered so you can see how advanced this technology is if we have been studying it for 20 years and dont have any production models to show. they are taking proteins and attaching it to DNA trying to get computer chips and other materials to replicate by themselves. this would be a leap in technology seeing as we would not have to build computers anymore yet only let them replicate(like human life cells) into new parts. once proteins are attached to the DNA they combine it with a virus and the virus is attracted to gold, and other conducting metals but gold is the best. once connected to the gold a series of heat is blasted to kill the virus leaving just the part left. with the proteins, DNA, and virus all attached to the chip they can replicate themselves making production not needed.

this shit is really interesting and i advise anyone to go research this a little because you will be baffled.

they are talkign about using it in everythig from cars to the military... suits will be like cloth but change to a substance harder than diamond with the bush of a button.

of course you realize that the 64 bit chips don't have a huge consumer base yet. it's a good direction to go in soon, but as for now, i'm just stickin with the athlon xp.

i thought zone alarm was pretty much garbage when i used it, i hated the way it worked. for firewall, i use blackice defender, it does a decent job but doesn't allow per program configurability very well. can't argue with free though..

and it doesn't amtter how many protection programs you run if you are still one of those retards that clicks every 'CHECK OUT MY C000L GMAE HERE!!!11!'. you gotta be smart about what you are doing.

restore to a roll back point if using XP

if not uninstall norton and ad aware
