Attitash

I am from Ohio and would like to inform anyone who skis at attitash about the new ownership of the resort. The new management for Attitas is coming form boston mills/ brandywine ski resort in northeast ohio. If you go there alot i feel for you because the new management is more or less a dictatorship and is not interested in the freesyle skiing scene at all. From what ive seen on the website Attitash looks cool and the general consensus from here is that its gonna go down hill fast because they are strict.

well heres my view on the whole thing: I honestly think this will be a huge improvement. think of it this way; attitash was probably ASC's shittiest resort, it will probably be peak resorts best resort. ASC hardly cared about attitash and wanted to invest as little as possible in it. peak will probably invest a lot into it. and

ASC as a whole is in the shitter. i am a stockholder and for as long as i can remember its only been worth $.01 per share. yep, it cant get any lower than that. so yea, thats just the way im looking at it but i dont really know because i never dealt with the new owners before.

There on hill operations are horrible, they revoked season passes, for swearing, throwing snowballs, going off jumps without spotters, etc. they arent fun people, they are strict.

Not sure what their policies have been in the past or the midwest for that matter, but the people that are directly involved with mountain ops, and the park in particular are super-committed to building a progressive park that isn't fucking around anymore. Attitash has gotten a bad rap while it was under the ownership/mismanagement of ASC, which is long gone now. People trashed the mountain last year, (rightfully so) but, they need to know that Attitash was pretty much already sold, and they weren't going to sink any extra money that they didn't have into a resort that was on the chopping block.

As for the new people in place, they are going to spend money, they bought a brand new pisten bully groomer, just for the park, and put some fuckin' quarter mil$ into snowmaking on just the park. They've bought materials for making new rails, they hired a welder to build em' and they are considering a sponsorship with a couple of HUGE names in extreme sports, that would pimp the shit out of the park.

It's a new park, and a new mountain. Whatever thoughts people might have about the ownership/management, they will be surprised once they see what happens in the park this year, and moreso next year.

Sorry that you feel like your home mountain got the shaft, maybe you should move to Bartlett.

^^^^ you a Peaks guy? Funny cause I never saw this thread last spring, I would have stood in defense of knowing Peaks. I can't speak for Brandywine and the other one mentioned but I can Speak for Big Boulder and we will likely be open 100% before any other mountain is opened period.

Would love to hear a current report on how Attitash is looking right now!

I guess I kind of am now... hadn't really thought about it that way yet. Good pt.

Skied attitash since twas a wee ski lad, been there ever since. (work in the park)

biased? yes.

you peak 2? Boulder I bet... if so, thanks for the rails

ah... and, total maybe 8-10 trails, completely covered.

Park, on attitash, 8' flat rail, 16'down handrail, 18' flat box, 22' up rail, 22' flat, 22ft. picnic table,

this weekend, 1 hit around 15-20ft., rainbox box to kicker, flat down

Park on Bear Peak, 14' hybrid box, barrel bonk, and little shorty 8' flat.

That's how Attitash is looking right now, top to bottom on both peaks, and high quality white product on the trails, courtesy of some friggin' huge guns...

stoke

yeah attitash has definetly gotten their shit together regarding the park this year. There's already twice as many rails set up as they even owned last year. As of right now the park goes like this. A poorly set up like 8 foot rail that most people skip, then a nice up box with a down rail next to it, the jump onto the downrail is too big so not many people hit that, but the box is nice. Then there's like a 20 foot or so up rail which is really smooth and setup perfectly. It ends with a mellow flat bar that a really like, and a picknick table next to that that's decent. Attitash is worth checking out this year, cuz the park rail wise now is 100 times better than last year and it's not even december yet. I've been skiing here forever and this year is definetly looking promising

dude that is so good to hear. I go atta most weekends, but this year probly wont make it up until after christmas. And just by loking at the site, tha park looks much better than it was in its prme last year.
