Attention NOHJAS alpine ?s

Okay I know alpine is going to be under new management this season and I had a few questions I was hoping you could answer.

1. First off, will you still be working at alpine as the park manager?

2. Is alpine going to become a family or local resort?

3. Last of all, there is a rumor that alpine will no longer have a park or it will be a lot smaller... could you clarify this?

#1 - I will still be Alpine's park manager.

#2 - Alpine wants to cater more to the local's. They want to have more events, better service, and an all around better feel than in the past.

#3 - The park has no plans to change. Kangaroo will still be our main park. Nick's will be big jumps. The ridge will be intermediate. Tiegel will be for beginners.

We will not be doing red-green again this year. We never really had the snow to do what I wanted, and the commitment wasn't really there. Someday top to bottom could work, but not without full backing.

Alpine's park will be top quality again this year. Look forward to this:

But that means no pipe again, unless we have an epic snow year. Not sure I like that. Also the top half of the mountain gets more snow meaning it's less suseptible to bad conditions. Is there anyway you could build a few jumps, jibs or a pipe up high....like Squaw has for High camp helping hedge the risk of a non cooperative snow year.

a few jumps up high would be rad. 2 parks.

Ride to the top.

Hit some park.

Get some turns.

Traverse to roo.

Hit some rails and jumps.

Ride back up.

eaxctly. Plus less issues with a shortage of snow in the late spring months when park riding is at its finest.

could you guys pre-build a pipe out of dirt and rock like whistler does? then a pipe would be there regardless of how much snow we have as long as we have some of it.

or also maybe have some more creative hits like stepups and stuff like that maybe pleasssssse??

That cost quite a bit of money though, Boreal did it 2 years ago and then improved it last year. So you can pretty much count on boreal to have the first pipe in Tahoe, especially with the snow making they put into that thing!

Hmmm...

I don't think we will have a pipe. Pipe Dragon has gone out of buisness, and we now have no way to fix it if it breaks. Hopefully the pipe riders will finally speak up and we will buy a new cutter.

Park up high might be a possibility in the spring but not in beaver. Beaver is not park friendy. It's an avalanche hazard all year and there is not a good slope in there for park. Plus we don't take cats in there very often.

We're just going to have to wait and see what direction the new management wants to go. Hopefully they will want to push thier program. I know passholders and locals will dictate, so you have to voice your park desires.

You can e-mail comments, questions and wants to terrainpark@skialpine.com

Please keep them professional. They will be directed to my superiors.

looks like the direction the management wants to go is kicking us out.  i just got an email with the new pass prices.  they eliminated the 19-23 young adult pass which just raised the price for many of us park riders to 850 bucks.  unless they pour every cent of that money into the park i really don't think i can afford alpine again this year.

word man. i have had an alpine pass since forever too. now everyone is either gonna be at northstar or boreal. both have sick parks but they are just gonna get more crowded this year.

Its just a bummer man..

Alpine has had my business since the 10Pak deals back in the day.

Been riding there since I was like 8-9.

$850 though..?

Fuck that.

*sigh*

Alpine used to be the epitomy of affordable skiing on a fantastic mountain. I mean.. anyone remember corn days? bring a can of corn get 10 bucks off? that was sick.

Now chill stuff like that is likely gone for good.
