Well put J.D._May, I believe amongst the people simply hopping on the "MSP Hate" bandwagon, there is also a large group of people basing their opinions on how they interpret the business practices of the company and the quality of the movies produced. However, a member of either group has the same consumer power and MSP should appease both groups. The primary reason I do not buy MSP movies is I simply do not enjoy them any more. The caliber of other production companies has increased so much in the past few years that I no longer have a great deal of interest in watching MSP movies let alone purchasing them. I find the growth of MSP movies inert not having changed or experimenting with their formula. I also believe that the cut-throat business tactics being employed have no place in the small free-ski industry. This spawns resentment towards the company, but if they still employed these practices and made movies that blew the competition out of the water I wouldn't hesitate to buy a copy of the movie. I'm sure most of you hating on the company act in a similar manner.
As for legal action, if Newschoolers had published some information intended to damage the reputation MSP, they could sue on the grounds of libel. Whoever said free-speech has no idea of what they are talking. This is a privately owned and operated forum. You have no free-speech rights on here. Even if you do… what would MSP be suing on the basis of, someone expressing their free-speech rights? You must realize that legal action is typically far down on the list of things to do when people are giving you problems in the business world. Most often, simply discussing your concerns in a professional matter is the first thing to happen, and the most effective.
