I think what Ice and the other "Damn youngsters jumping on bandwagons they don't understand, MSP was around when you were in diapers" posters aren't getting is that there is a large and growing population of informed adults who are also submitting to a boycott of MSP products owing not to rumours and bandwagon effects but solely to the fact that the company has come to represent exactly what we don't want skiing to be... I would like MSP out of our industry because whatever they may have done to propel its growth, they're hampering it now with an utterly futile and ridiculous attempt to maintain some semblance of monopoly. My challenge to MSP is not to apologize, because it's honestly a bit too late and I doubt it would be sincere anyway, but rather this: do something new. Make a GOOD movie next season (hit list is a lost cause) with whatever riders you have left; Berman does more with less high price talent. Put out something original instead of Ski movie 14, do something different and interesting. Then at least you can say you're doing something in favour of the progression of this sport, to offset all the things you've done in opposition to it in recent years. I still won't buy it, no... but it'll be a start. And hey, maybe you can sell more copies without the heavy handed corporate-style manipulation of... er, everyone.

Also, he said he has never made a single post on newschoolers. Ski@jaypeak makes a good point. most people talking shit on these threads have no idea what they are talking about. I for one grew up on MSP and it has heavily influenced my perspective on different aspects of the sport and certain atheletes. It is there responsibility though to produce the most progressive segments of the year. therefore, if someone killed it this year they deserve a part, and if someone sucked or got hurt, then well, too bad. if you come back and have a great season next year than you deserve another part. but don't put people in movies just because they were in it last year, thats the worst thing you can do.

Melvs, as long as the moderators and admins keep things to themselves the site is fine. If any officiant of the site participates in spreading remarks that can be proved slanderous the site may be in trouble.

I have prepaid legal services so I placed a call out of curiousity.

 
Just to clear this up, yes Steve Winter did call the NS office yesterday. No he did not threaten to sue us. I won't speak for Steve but he assured me that he has never, and will never post on this site. His concern was solely regarding the number of impersonators claiming to be him in the forums and the potential damage it could cause.

Whether you like MSP or not, and I'm not here to comment on that at all, you guys are free to express your opinions. But pretending to be someone you're not and seemingly fanning the flames of this shit storm isn't acceptable. We're in the process of finding out who is responsible for the impersonations and removing their usernames. Beyond that, this is an open message board and everyone is free to voice their opinions equally.

I don't like MSP as much as anyone, but for us to spread rhumours about some stuff... Reedy talking about Sueing NS, there's no proof.

Sketchline is just the dumbest person I've ever come into contact with, he hates MSP movies, but hasn't seen anything recent. True they suck, but you can't just jump on the bandwagon just because its the cool thing to do these days. Watch the movies and use you own brain to make a decision.

I wouldnt take anything seriously I hear on this site excpet a very few threads.

this was all real funny, but i have to say msp hasnt had a really progressive movie ever. there good but not mind blowing.

and i cant believe this is blowing up like this, cuz no one ever believed/realized that freeskier bought the rights to freeze from transworld and then shut it down. and yeah i know there was a press release, but freeskier knew that they would never sell another magazine again if people knew that was the case.

furthermore, newschoolers needs to make a magazine/video for the people. like something sick that involves the whole ski industry. YOU GOT SPONSORS, do it....go, now, do it....before this shit get shut down.

I hope for the MSP employees that Hitlist turns out to be fairly good to regain some confidence, because at this point I do not know how they are possibly going to stay afloat, i'd estimate their number of sales to go down about 10,000 dvd's, because not all of this site participates or consults all of the anti msp forums, but a fair share for sure. And the trailer did not make hitlist seem like a good movie... O well, i dont feel very concerned about this whole issue anyways, if shit happens too bad, it was deserved and not deserved, i dont care...
