Attention all pros and aspiring am's using this site

A dope comp would be like 5-10 sick pros vs. 5-10 sickest ams battle it out in a big air, but the ams are a team, and the pros are a team.

i like this idea

you could quite easily incorporate an event like this into the tour

maybe an end of season tour for the top rated pros and ams

top 5 pros v top 5 ams maybe

I think your idea is a strong one, but it wouuld need some serious logistical support behind it. It would add to the credibility of the entire sport if we atleast had all of our major events interconnected in a greater fashion than freeskiers fantasy freeride points. Event coordination is a serious undertaking, as is sponsoring events like the ones you want to see happen, but if you can do it or even get the ball rolling, proffesional skier will be indebted to you. Watch out that in the process of tying everything together that you don't run into killing the free aspect of things (a.k.a. FIS), but make an effort to be legit in all organazation so that real business will be stoked. I think your head is in the right spot, but know what your up against.

this has been done and wasnt entirely successful

the comp was called ski p-i-g and televised on the fuel network in oz dont know about north america

made a bit more famous by tanner having a huge crash and getting knocked out doing a very standard tanner trick, might have been a cab 5

bad idea man skiing abut just chillin schedules and all that shit are fucked...plus you would be hard pressed to get riders inbetween filming obligations and travel budgets......scrap it man..

how about a comp thats not organized at all, super chill. No judges, no athletes, no resort, just randoms killin it randomly around. No one wins, no one loses, but we all have a good time!

This shits a sick idea like the ticket to ride for skiing.. Wsi, the european open, the us open, Orage Masters, and a couple of big mountain comps like the verbier ride and the k2 back 9 all together in 1 system and youset.

i will give you something to think about

now i know i am relating everything to the surfing wct tour but that is the model i am working from

i think we can all admit the surfing industry is a lot bigger and much better developed than the skiing one

and the pros in the surfing industry find the time to commit to sponsorship stuff, comps and filming, and they have a film industry that is waaaay bigger than the ski one.

sponsors cover travel budgets because they want them to be at the comps so their shit gets displayed

dude im from aus too..but by telling me all that stuff you also stubbled upon one of the most important reasons why it cant happen...skiing just isnt big wnough...wait until somehting similar to the ASP world circuit comes to snowboarding then start to think abuot it happening in skiing...sorry to burst you bubble mate but its just not in the cards....its sounds ok but perhaps skiing is better off without it becoming regulated and the likes of what a governing body will do to a sport....plus if more people know about skiing the more rollerbladers will start skiing....and we DONT want that!
