what they're talking about w/ the transition (curved part) is pumping.  as you get into the tranny, push down with your feet (that's pumping) through the entire way up, then when you get to the lip (top), give a nice little pop (jump).  you don't want to pop out/towards the middle of the pipe so much as you want to pop down the pipe.  it sounds fucked up, but once you get it you'll know what i'm saying.
then land with yours knees bent, preferably right below the lip, slightly on edge, and push through with your feet (pump) until you reach the flat and stand up.  repeat at the next wall.
ultimately it all comes down to doing it and getting the feel for it.  once you've tried it you'll be able to ask some more specific questions and hopefully get better feedback.  good luck.
