I found a great 15ft. steel pole in my garage, and i wanted to set it up so i can use it for ski(summer drop in) or inline. The problem is i have no welding credentials and a limited monetary funds. So NS's i was wondering if there a tried and true method for attaching metal poles to wood and if so what need to do. K+ for good answers.

Well i'm not saying i couldn't, its just that i have a perfectly good rail in my possession i just done know how to attach it.

it depends on how thick it is like if it is a 1 inch pipe with 3/16in. wall then you could drill through it, then put a u-bolt through it. then drill through the wood (which needs to be strong because metal weighs a lot). then bolt through and tighten it until it digs into the wood or you cant tighten it any more

good luck let me know if it works!!

This maybe?

-2x4 lumber

-3"OD pipe

-Bend some 1"wide,3/16" thick plate steel into a c clamp and throw some bolts all the way through.
