how to atomics (punx and infamous) compare to lets say the amarda ar7. i ride the ar7 and i am really keen on atomics but i have never ridden them. would they be like the amardas?

Well if your asking if atomic has a AR7 ski, then no.

But i would recommend atomic skis, they're good quality and durable as well as having a wide variety of skis, if you're looking for a new pair of skis look into the Atomic Punx

Homie, your AR7s are made by Atomic, so you can expect similar quality and build construction (that is to say pretty good, not great). It's been a while since I skied them, but I remember both the Punx and the Infamous being noticeably softer then the AR7. The shop I used to work at was an Atomic dealer and the bros skied the Punx 2 years ago and the Infamous last year. The Infamous had issues with tail delamination and the Punx had issues with splitting cores along the inners of the edges. The cores of my AR7s are beginning to split similarly too.

I guess the best way to put this would be that Atomic's construction does not hold up to rails very well, but you can only expect so much from skis at their price range and weight.

Something we all need to remember: small companies don't always produce amazing skis, and big companies don't always churn out sub-par skis. It all comes down to how much love and attention get put into the skis, and this is what makes a great ski.

Atomic has by far one of the most tricked out ski factories in the world. We make our own molds, presses, tuning machines, jigs, etc. all in house and custom to our needs. So if we want something, we make it the way we want, rather than a pre-made set up designed by someone else. Same goes for all of our construction materials. We select all of our raw materials and then we custom make all of the woodcores, bases, edges, topsheets, sidewalls in house. Nothing is pre-selected out of a catalog, it's all custom the way we want it (which is not the norm in the ski industry). And there is only enough raw material on hand to last 4 days, where temperature and humidity are strictly controlled. That means nothing is sitting around aging, getting funky- only the freshest and highest quality goodness goes into the ski. FYI- all of our sintered bases are a minimum of 7000 series, even on the Infamous.

After the skis are made, they are hand finished, individually weighed, flex tested, and paired with their perfect match. So when you see a pair of Punx on the wall, you know that pair is actually belongs together.

The point here is to not discount a brand because of its size (not that you specifically said that). Rather, look into the details about how a ski has been made, what goes into it, and you'll see the difference.

Oh yeah. I agree. However, in my personal experience the Punx, Infamous, and AR7 have left something to be desired when it comes to durability.

in my experience, you get what you pay for. sure the punx & infamous aren't built like armoured tanks, but they also don't cost $600 either. They are light, durable enough (there are way more less durable skis out there), fun to ride, and still $150-$250 cheaper than something like a filthy rich. I'm sure if Atomic wanted to make a $600 park ski they could, but i'm also sure they would sell far fewer.

That's what I'm saying if you read my original posts. Onenerdyatomicemployee didn't agree so much with that. I applaud atomic for making twin tips with some shred of torsional rigidity, a feat many seem to be incapable of. That really helps the skis carve well, even if your edges underfoot are completely mangled and falling out or the core has sheared making your bases resemble boat hulls. Haha.

In my experience armada and atomic both hold up super well especially with the new tech they use like 50/50 cap sidewall. It's texh like this and the very high end materials used at a goo price which makes them hard to compete with. I would put them up there as some of the top brands for sure.
