what is everyone talking about when they talk about the atomic triplets having a double edge? I just got a free pair of Urbans, and i have never riden atomic and i dont know much about the product so any info on these would be awesome...thanks

why wouldnt i need info, i dont know anything about the ski yet.

i read about it but learned nothing useful

They're terrible, so you might as well give them to me.

Not many people have them, so you won't find much info. Try to message Rex, he'll tell you what's up.

Third edge in the middle is Elan and it doesn't really do much! the UT's have a second edge about 3/4" in from the outer running about 1/3 the length of the ski underfoot. it's also got a di cut material surrounding that inside edge that is harder than the other base material. Edges crack and break on ALL skis, it's the nature of our sport. What these re-enforced edges do is help distribute the impact of landing on a rail over a larger metal surface area, what this does is decreases the frequency and severity of cracking edges.

I've read on NS that some of you have blown these edges and cracked them all over, I find that a little hard to believe since I'm 205lbs and had no real troubles with mine after about 60 days on them last year, a couple small cracks but that's it.

Either way, if anyone has any questions about Atomic or their Product feel free to PM me, I'd love to help.

my besst friend alex (teamtdot) cracked all the edges, even the middle ones and had the base start to separate. this was two weeks after he got them last march

^ I didn't say it didn't happen, I just find it hard to believe, sometimes in production they do get materials with slight flaws, perhaps the pair he recieved were made with some faulty metal in the edges, which sux, hopefully they were warrantied, if the base was delaming then they should have been. Also last year we used a Temp mold for a bunch of the pairs and I think the ones that were made just before the production mold was done may have been weaker than those put out earlier or in Production.

Im pretty sure Rex uses a 1018 Atomic binding that was produced by Look a few years ago.

He may be on the new Atomic FFG binding at this point though, which is based on a Salomon.

its a edge a cm away form the outer edge and its just under the boot and in between the 2nd edge and the out edge is a different base material

i got em cause the shop finally got the jig and i got to ride em once. I had to crank the DIN up cause when i would nose press the bindings would release all the time. They are pretty good, im used to my Fujis though so its kind of a big change, ill have to ride them some more. they are noticably lighter though, and the binding weight isnt very much at all about as much as my S914s

the skis are dead within two weeks, i haven't warrentied them because i need to ski on them still, but i've cracked all 8 edges somehow, and the sidwall has popped up revealing the foam core...little bits fall out each time i use em i'll take pictures when i can

^ V edges inside of real edges, underfoot to anchor them down, and prevent breaking and falling out.

what it means is therz a much fatter edge on them so itz easier for jibz almost like the snowboard edge on the invaderz. also there hella good skis lightweight and stable
