Atomic Tracker Binding Play

I just got some skis (atomic autos) with tracker bindings, and I noticed that the heel has some vertical and horizontal play.

The actual piece that is mounted to the ski is rock solid, but if I put them in tour mode, I can wiggle the metal plate with the hooks back and forth, and when I click them back to ski mode, the toe piece is still solid, but the whole track thing can move a little because of these hooks being loose. It is still there with boots clicked in too.

The hook piece:

Is this normal? Is there any way to adjust/tighten them?

Online I've found some people who say the play normal, and some who say theirs have no play at all, but it is about the same on both skis, so I'm not sure whats up. They're the same as Salomon Guardians so if anybody has experience with either, please let me know. Thanks!

From what I have garnered its not normal and comes down to the mounting job done. If it is even slightly off, there is a little play. If there is a lot it can be bad so. Its up to you

There is always a little play its nothing to worry about. The only time you will notice it on the moutain is when your sat on a chair with your feet dangling. You will not feel a thing skiing them though. Enjoy them and the skis, that is an awsome setup.

Well I like this better than the mount issue, but if I click in on my carpet I can definitely feel it. It's not more than 1-2mm vertically but I can feel movement.

Masshole, any idea on how much is too much?

I got them from a local shop that is usually really good, so I doubt the mount is off by very much if it is.

Thanks for the replys!

OK, so I just found this review: http://blistergearreview.com/features/our-selections-salomon-guardian-atomic-tracker-at-binding.

"According to Salomon, some elasticity is built into the locking

mechanism of the heel, which allows the ski to flex naturally. It’s

difficult to confirm this simply by looking at the Guardian and flexing

the ski, but there does seem to be a very slight amount of vertical and

lateral movement between the mount plate and the heel when the binding

is locked in place."

Well I think (and hope) that's what I'm getting, so I'll try em out tomorrow.

sounds like a possible warranty. I've mounted a few of these and that doesn't sound like something that was caused by a bad mounting job. The guardians I have on my magic j's have that slight elasticity as that review mentioned, but if you can feel a physical movement when you're skiing then something is wrong. if you are worried and if you bought them in a shop take them there and have them warranty them for you. yes, you may be without bindings for a couple weeks at most but if they're getting fixed.... If you bought them online then your only bet may be contacting the online store and seeing what the possibilities are, I've never dealt with that so I'm not sure.

I'd just ski them a few more times and make sure.

There is nothing wrong with them mate. They all have a tiny but if play. I had people like you wondering about the play bring then into the shop and it's very normal for that binding. Like I said before you won't feel it at all when riding them. It comes from having a low profile locking system. If we wanted to get rid of any rattle it would have had to be beefed up meaning the mount height would raise like a duke. The advantage of being low to the ski outweighs a tiny rattle.
