Has anyone skied the Atomic Thug? I'm looking at it for a super-fat and I can find much infor, so if anyone has ridden it and could tell me anything about the flex, weight, turning radius...anything really, I'd like to find out as much as possible about it, and it would be greaty appreciated. P.S. - Anyone who has ridden the Thug and the Prophet 130 and can compare them...or has anything to say about the Prophet would be awesome too, cause I'm trying to comepare the two as options for a super-fat ski. Thanks.

i could fucking swear there was a thread like this not three days ago... use the bar of search, you cant miss it.

oh, and the reason you're not finding much info about it is because only probably 5 people have ridden it so far, and they are probably all on the freeskiing team, so they wont be able to compare it with the prophet 130s..good luck

Prophet is lighter and softer flexing... Thug is heavier and stiffer as the name would suggest... unless yur skiing super deep pow or you weigh 180+ the thugs will kick yur ass like the football players did in high school... good luck

The Thugs are not that stiff

They are softer than the new big daddies, which are softer themselves than in past years. People who really like an uber stiff ski like the old big daddies have told me that they are too soft for them. They are heavier than the Prophets for sure though. They are wood sandwich construction, the prophets are cap, so they will obviously be lighter.

I have not skied them yet because they are still only available in a 192 and that would ski me if I tried. The 181 will hopefully be out soon. Not sure though.

well to whoever said U need to Be 180+ to ski em, tell that to Charley Ager, Josh Stack and Bandon Kelly. Cause all three of them aren't even close to 180+ same with PY leblanc for that matter and he said it was the best Fat Ski he's ever skied! they're not as light as the prophets but no bomber woodcore ski is gonna be. and what really blew my and PY's mind was how well it skied all conditions, it's got a 41m radius so it's pretty straight but when it get's to speed it skis like a Super G ski, it holds and edge on groomers and blows through crud like nothing else! Not that stiff, kind of a medium flex that's not offered on the markey yet, the Fat skis seem to be either Super Stiff or Super soft, this one is in the middle.

Dave Treadway (Dan's brother) skied it for the ski test here in Whis and is pretty confident it's gonna win best super fat or Best fat twin this year, completely blew his mind!

Both the Thug and Prophet are good fat skis. If you really want fat, though, you should check out Fat-ypus. Small Colorado company, fattest skis on the market for 2007 and the skis perform well. I'd like to own a pair myself. Their website is www.fat-ypus.com

Oh, and so everyone knows what we are talking about here, these are the dimensions of the skis in question:

Atomic Thug: 140/120/133 @ 181 cm

Fat-ypus A-lotta: 172/140/158 @ 180 cm

LIne Prophet 130: D: 155/130/148 @ 186 cm

All of 'em are pretty girthy underfoot, that's for sure!

i like the way that fat-ypus demonstrates how their shirts fit.

and for competition watching, Rex once demonstarated how amazing of a bench they make. i'd buy em for that reason alone, aside from the ultimate badassness of them.

Yeah, the Fat-ypus is outta control...but, like the Pontoon, I doubt it'll be good to ride switch in deep stuff, and that's definitely something I wanna be able to do. Mostly I'm thinking between the Prophet 130 and the Thug...I think it'll come down to weight, sidecut and flex, because they are close in overall dimensions...and I'd be gettting the 192(I'm pretty sure that's the length on the large Thug) vs. the 186 in the Prophet, obviously.

Search on TGR (or here, but it may be too old) for my review of the Thugs and some other sticks. I skied them in January or something. DOPE sticks.

Oh, and don't listen to half the bullshit you see in the posts above...people like to speculate and give info without even ever skiing the skis.

But how is the flex, cause I've never ridden the ANT...and I'm 6'4" and 155-160lbs. and I don't want something super stiff...I do want something super versatile, and I've been told the Prophet 130 is very versatile, but I would like something a little longer, and if the Thug is as versatile as the Prophet is said to be, and longer, I might have to pick up a pair.

1. Prophets are not that versatile.

2. Prophets are not that cool.

3. Prophets do not ski that well...even in pow there are many skis that are better.

4. Here is my review of the 192 Thug:

Atomic Thug 192: Schweet. The sandwich construction of this ski seems bomber. I was stoked to get on these and they didn't disappoint. The lesser sidecut, which I'm a big fan of, was very welcome when I started to let them run and edge grip was quite good once I got a feel for them. More stable feeling than the Mojo in both tip and tail and heavier as well. They track very well yet were agile enough to carry speed in tighter trees. I skied them in the 'back' mount position, which is plenty far forward for me. Overall a very solid and enjoyable ride. I'd say the Thug is similar to the ANT, only a bit heavier and wider.

Bottom line dude, if you want something fatter, but still lighter and more versatile, your ski of choice is the Mojo 105 in a 191...that'll probably be my everyday ski this year.

As the name would suggest....since when the fuck did names come into play of how skis performed. that hurts my ears.

and also. check out who won the Canadian Open Freeskiing comp. in the JUNIOR league. guess what he rode. Thugs. kid was not 180+ and defintly didnt look meaty.

As a general rule too, super fats tend to be soft. i know the 130 is mid stiff, but generally, super fat skis are gonna be on the softer side.

if ur lookin for somethin more versatile i might also suggest the maden ak or ak enemy. they are 109 underfoot but still very good elsewhere. fairly soft tho

my homie rocks these everywhere and loves em. ive taken a run or two on them and all i can say is they like to charge balls. the only complaint ive heard of is the construction being a little whack in some of the batches. other than that if your a powerful skier you and like to go mach 12 everywhere this is the ski for you. peace

Wow this is an old thread, but just to clear things up I ended up with some Prophets, they are awesome, fat skis are the way to roll. I'll also say that the Thug is softer than the Prophet, I think it's actually softer tha the AK Enemy/Made'n as well, and maybe a tad heavier than the Prophet too.

id say the prophet 130's are stiffer and the thugs are softer i would take the thugs though just beacuase they are eaiser to use on the hill aswell
