Atomic Pimp - length for me?

Hi!

I decided to buy a pair of 2008/09 Atomic PImps. I just can't decide on the length - 174 or 183. I'm 5'7 and 155lbs. And while i'm at it - which binding would be better - marker griffons or rossi scratch 120? Thanks for the answers.

Also if you mount further back you can ski shorter, more centred.. go long.. Personally I would go for the 183 (I might get this ski) and I am 5'9 145 pounds..

Yes, I intend to buy them at Sport-Conrad . Their gear is at least 30% cheaper than in other online stores I know. I already have one pair for park (Dynastar Troublemaker 168cm) so I would probably use these for all-mountain and powder. Probably really better to go long then and mount them a little closer to the center?

Honestly I don't know where the sidecut centre is but I guess they have a FS mount called (centre) - My guess is that is at about -2 and that sounds good on a 183.. You shouldn't have any problems with that. If it is more for powder then being that far forward might mean you get tip dive and the long length and centre mount will make moguls and short turns more tricky than a shorter ski.. other than that i think the 183 is probably the best bet.. If its a 'pow' ski then mount between FS and FR..

Thank you both for the answers. If it's anything like volkl's gotama it will probably ski shorter anyway so i'll buy them in 183 and mount the bindings between FS and FR markings.

Get the 183's for sure. I'm 6'1" and 160lbs and had the 193's last season and they felt about right for length--although it wasn't enough ski for what I wanted to do with them. Soft twins are going to ride quite a bit shorter than their advertised length.

Why wasn't it enough ski for you? Too soft?

Yeah, they were too soft and not damp enough for my taste. They were replaced with BD Zealots, if that says something about what I like in an AT ski. For an all-around playful ski they're pretty good though, they were super easy to ollie on even with Naxos.

Well anyway, I just ordered the 183 Pimp with rossignol scratch 120 bindings. I told them to mount them +2 cm from FR mounting point. They should be delivered sometime next week. Thanks again for all the input
