At what size do cliffs start reinforcing your manhood?

revelstoke eh? is it the gnarnia trees or watever underneath the gondola at the top entrance of the trees? cuz if so im pretty sure ive hit that cliff not necessasarily the same spot but off the same band

This is an important distinction.

Personally I always think drop size should be judged take off to landing just because so few drops are actually sheer cliff faces. What you're actually dropping can be so irrelevent to the size of the drop you actually make. The obvious extreme example of this is Alaska. People like Seth can hit what would be relatively small features in other circumstances but because of their speed and the steepness of the slope they take them 80ft plus.

nice edit bro.

im in nc too, im going to start doing a lot of park this year so ill probably see yuh at app a lot.

Right... Not instantly but when you realize you'll make a "epic topic" for NS in which you brag about you death-denying drop, i bet YOU have a 5 footer right away.

A little off topic, but I remember an issue of Freeze I had with a photo of Seth dropping 30 feet into a mogul field at a Big Mountain event. I think it was at Crested Butte. It was 100% psychotic.

Agree. There should be a standard formula that is applicable everywhere and to everyone. Except Chuck Norris. He get's an inch and a half for every ten feet.

No haha almost but the drop was almost flat from like 10-15 ft and my teeth smashed. Do people wear mouthguards for drops or park anyways?

I have a few friends who wear mouth guards. They prevent something like 90% of concussions. In all reality we should all be wearing them.

I was looking for the photo, but couldn't find it. I agree that almost everyone in big mountain contests are going big and landing in less than optimal conditions. This looked like Seth was dropping onto skied off teflon. There was nothing remotely soft about it. You could tell it was baked by the shine coming off the snow. My initial reaction to seeing it was the same as seeing someone fall out of a 3rd story window. I wish I could find that photo. Also, pretty sure that Seth was skiing on 210 cm's.

same. the other day i dreamed that i tried to hit this rail, and i jumped too far, and all of a sudden i was flying, like 50 feet above the ground, my skis turned to a snoboard, and i went off a cliff and landed. i have no idea why i thought of that.

somebody has obviously never skied out of the park or hit a cliffi would say 20 or 25 feet ive only hit small 10 foot ones

can't tell if sarcasm.

either way - most concussions happen when your teeth smash together. The vibrations that travel from your jaw to your skull are enough to give you a concussion.

Yeah, sarcasm, sorry. Most concussions happen when you smack your head. Smashing your teeth is just a byproduct of hitting a certain part of your head, if you hit your jaw and your teeth get in the way of the force transmission then that's just bad luck on your part. Of all the people I know who've been concussed, myself included, not one of them smashed their teeth. Likewise of all the people I know who've smashed teeth, only one got a concussion at the same time, and that was from taking a softball bat to the face.

The whole mouthguard concussion thing is a bit of a myth, there's several medical publications on the topic. There's some evidence that they'll reduce the severity of head injury from a blow to the underside of the jaw, but the vast majority of "concussion prevention" stuff comes from mouthguard manufacturers, who are going to say that shit anyway.

I smashed the old brain last April at Whistler...totally out for about 15 min and I was not allowed to do any physical activity for 6 weeks. In June I started noticing discolouration in my eye tooth, and it had died as a result of the smash. During that recovery time I was told by 2 different doctors in 2 different cities(Whistler, Revelstoke) that a mouth guard would have reduced the severity of my concussion and when I got my root canal the dentist said it probably would have prevented my tooth dying had I been wearing one. And my hit was directly to the back of my head..overrotated backflip.
To other guy asking about that revelstoke shot, that is not in conifers or kill the banker. I don't know where it is, but it does not look like anything in there..

Ok, so I guess we can say that the jury is out on the mouthguard debate.

I have never worn one and have had one major and a few minor concussions... from what I understood, they will help with preventing minor concussions (and as the last guy said) bring down the severity of major concussions?

Can we agree that mouth guards don't increase chances of a concussion, and therefor are a piece of equipment worth considering?

stand at the edge of even a 20' cliff and look down and you'll need to pull deep into your balls to hit it. they feel a lot bigger from the top, so hitting anything outside of your comfort zone reinforces your manhood

i read and re-read this thread title for the past few days, never clicking on it, because I thought it said: At what size cliff do you start reinforcing your manhood?

Meaning, at what size cliff do you start wearing a fucking jockstrap or some shit like that. Layoff, Im from the midwest haha

I have't hit any cliffs as I pretty much suck on skis and would no doubt really hurt myself the first few times. So looking forward to appreciating gravity on my skis. Love that free fall feeling, but its the actual knowing 100% your going to do it is the rush. Envious of the folks who know what it feels like on skis.

ˇˇMy claim to having a decent sized half inch and a wrinkle on land.

This didn't take any effort to jump off really, and yet a box/rail/jump/cliff at a snails pace scares the living shit out of me. I'm unsure it is 90ft, just what i was told.

The cliff im talking about is at 3:35
this could the biggest cliff int e thread demandskis tiger ridge at whitler my balls werent quite big enough this day and i have regrets big time my 4 friends hit it leaving 4 big bombholes we figured it was done for the day as we r siing away 2 pros one of them was that alex prochlavak guy pro mtn biker and the other was this blonde guy i wanna say was a treadway they yell down how is it my friend says "i dunno man theres lots of bomb holes it would suck to hit one" he shrugs it off rolls off and stomps the piss out of it (60 foot plus cliff) the the blonde guy goes lands one foot ina bomb hole and kind of crunches himself doesnt land it but isnt hurt
so me and my one other firnd who didnt hit it are real stoked to go back and try so we head back and the 2 pros show up shortly behind us and right infront of my face alex pro drops in and sends abackflip taking it atleast 15 feet deeper than any of the previous hits and stomps the pissss out of it and then the blonde guy does the same thing and then i was still scared and then my other frined hit it and i left feelin like a bitch but this season hundo P
