At what point did PRO park progression become gay?

like in 2009 and 2010, i remember that all the new tricks coming out were hailed. but now anytime someone throws something over a dub 12, its considered "aeriels".....

WHERE IS THE LINE NS?!?!!?!?! I NEED ANSWERS AND I NEED THEM NOW?

It's only "gay" when the pros are trying to win comps like X games and Dew tour etc. Because They have to future spin in order to get god scores.

But I think progression in edits and movies these days is fucking dope. Kids these days are doing wonky ass shit on urban and shit. I think it's not gay at all.

Eventually skiing will split into two different distinct styles. It's already happened in BMX.

i love the progression in urban segments, dont get me wrong. but i was watching the dew tour and i thought that throwing a ton of doubles in pipe was as cool as seeing people send massive flat 5s.

future spins are cool, in a different way. they are more technical than "stylish" which is now defined as having half your segement be trannies.

that said.

i still believe stept, level 1, and inspired make the best films.

but park skiing grew from competitions. it really grew from mogul skiing and snowboarding. but i gues thats too mainstream now...

end rant.

ps, im sick and i decided leaning was the best way to handle it.

In the BMX scene there's "park" and "street."

Park would be like Daniel Dhers. (I'd post a video but I'm on mobile.)

Street would be like Ty Morrow.

YouTube them.

I was just using the word "gay" to allude to OP's phrasing...But I myself believe that if they were to stop future spinning and doing what they're paid to, then skiing would die quickly due to the fact that we'd get WAY less media coverage at big comps...

This is a pointless thread, professional progression is still fucking sick. Theres just the fucking critical assholes like yourself that perceive current progression to suck. Fuck you and fuck your mother.

Big mountain, park, and urban are three very divisible sections in "freeskiing" right now, am I right?

i think it's pretty wack when pros include park rails and jibs in their segments. to me, that's just rail ballet. it's too predictable and corny, especially when you compare it to the guys in STEPT who bring it to the urban scene with such authority.

also, i think park skiers should lose their poles and get on the Harlaut wagon. seriously, poles are useless in the park and detract from style.

i think halfpipe skiing is in a decent place right now. the Top 10 competitors are going huge, doing super-tech tricks, and some of them even have pretty nice style. they just need to lose the poles.

tricks learned on snow: sick. tricks learned on trampolines with coaches and trainers: gay, not skiing. shit reflects in style. goepper vs hornbeck, classic example
