AT Boots on Salomon Guardians

Im putting a pair of Guardian AT bindings on my Pollards. I have 2 pairs of boots that I shuffle between, but I read somewhere that the Guardian bindings might have an adverse reaction to some AT boots even with the adjustable toe on the bindings.

1st are Salomon Quests, but i feel like im pretty safe with this. Salomon AT boots better work on Salomon AT bindings (but some confirmation would be nice)

2nd are some black diamond factor 130s...any word as to their compatibilty with guardian bindings?

Here's the word i got from onenerdykid

"The Tracker / Guardian binding is technically an alpine binding with a walk function (same as Marker Duke/Baron). It is certified to work with the Alpine ISO 5355 norm only, not the Touring Norm ISO 9523.

Now, because the binding toe height can be adjusted it can fit rockered boot soles that are in accordance with ISO 9523 but it does not officially pass release tests because of the most rockered soles do not have an AFD section on them and also because tech inserts slow the sideways release of the boot from the binding.

So, in short, the Tracker / Guardian is certified for alpine boots not touring boots, but a touring boot can fit in the binding because of the adjustable toe height.

Sadly, the 2 different norms (Alpine ISO 5355 and Touring ISO 9523) are not compatible with one another. So if a binding works for one, it does not work for the other. The 2 norms are simply too different, which is why most boots that are made in the future will have interchangeable soles that are norm specific."

^^That was a perfect response. Couldn't have said it better myself. Both of my boots (Garmont Adrenalin and Dynafit Titan Ultralight) have interchangeable soles, which will be helpful to switch from my MFD/FKS, FKS, and Dynafit binders. You have to be careful when switching soles though because most boots (mine included) have the threads set in the shell's plastic so cross threading can happen easily. It is also best to switch the soles as infrequently as possible.

What Sklar and I said is correct but to specifically answer your question, both of those boots have soles that are interchangeable between the 2 norms. They are actually quite similar in design. As long as you used the Alpine norm soles (non tech insert version) then both of those boots will work safely with the Guardian binding.
