I am trying to plan a trip for this winter and since neither website is really that helpfull I was just wondering what your opinions were, Aspen or Vail?

ok, go to vail...cuz it seems like all those who disagreed with me know what they are talking about :rolling eyes:

apsen is much better then vail, better park, better big mountain stuff. all around better imo. the only con is its pretty far from everything when vail is close to eagle and summit

Aspen.

Aspen has four ski resorts and three of those kill vail and beaver creek.

Both vail and aspen are fun towns to party in, but you are probably not old enough, so go for the terrian, which means go to aspen

what do you call a 5 mile traverse, two 45 minute lift lines, and 2 good cliffs?... Vail's legendary back bowls.

You should probably avoid Aspen at all costs... don't hottub and drink at Sky bar, don't eat at Johnny's (the Trucker with Avocado is the worst sandwich you'll ever eat) for lunch, or Hickory house for breakfast, certainly don't ski highlands bowl on a powder day, and for god sakes don't eat at NY pizza or the popcorn wagon after getting fucked up at the cantina and erics. Terrible time.

OH... I almost forgot... make sure you drive to Denver on I-70E at about 4pm Sunday afternoon.

So Vail doesn't have a similar variety of skiing as Aspen? I skiied at Aspen for three weeks last year in Jan and thought it was sick terain and visited Vail and thought it was great but to big to get around for day trips. This comming Jan i'll be in Vail for a bit over 3weeks. So whats the deal where are the best areas to ski in Vail/Beaver Creek? I plan of gettin out to Crested butte, but will ski the most @ Vail/ Beaver Creek. Cheers.

I'm still having trouble decide. I was just wondering like how long it takes to get from one mountain to another at aspen, i dont wanna waster part of my day in a shuttle bus forever

if you stay in aspen, snowmass is half an hour away and vice versa. but snowmass is the biggest and most diverse mountain. it has everything. but i didn't tell you that!

aspen they got four mountains, and instead of looking at an interstate you get to look at more mountains!! ASPEN!!

fuck you, i bet you've never been to aspen douche bag, vail has too many cat walks and too many lifts, while in aspen you can choose the mountain to what you want to ski that day, buttermilk for park, highlands for powder, Aspen for steeps, and snowmass has everything, plus you don't have to deal with all those denver gapers

At most you'll be in the shuttle for 20mins but they start early so you just have to forfit some sleep it you want to be on the forst lift.

no i have been to aspen.........and vail has all those options on one mountain so you dont have to keep changing mountains

Yeah but snowmass has all of those options plus if you some how got bored there is still 3 more mountains to explore.

but it's not possible to get bored at snowmass. you could ski there for a week and never get bored. so much terrain. especially when the cirque is open.

not to sound like a dick here, but id like to hear who actually skis at these places on a regular basis (myself included) vs. kids who've gone there for 1 week out of the season with their parents and they're basing their entire opinion on wherever their parents timeshare happens to be
