Aspen opinions

I have lived and skied in Aspen my whole life, so it is hard for me to tell what kind of image the town has (from a freeskiing perspective)

What do you guys think about Aspen/Snowmass? Honest opinions appreciated

That the skiing isnt that good and its just a place for the rich and famous. Not a real skiers town at all in my opinion.

No lift lines on any of the good terrain, plenty of mountains to pick from, and a local posse who loves to shred. Also the town has plenty of cheaper dining drinking options. Carbondale is even cheaper. Compared to Vail, it's the bee's knees. Compared to Crested Butte, or Telluride, it's a little uppity. But it's easily one of the best places to go skiing on great terrain and not deal with an over corporate environment. The ski patrol is actually cool.

As far as the uber rich go, yeah they are there, but they are in their own world, so it doesn't really affect anyone.

So four years ago I started working for ASC at buttermilk as a Lifty thought it was gonna be a one season thing.

And here I am just getting done with 4th winter as a lifty there. I might just be self abusive but I like the town and what it offers.

Their are a lot of rich uppity people who visit or live in town but the real assholes don't even ski the good stuff (or ski at all) so avoid that(Aspen mountain Gondola) and your golden.

The mountains get consistent snow (for the most part), the park is prime(if your into that), Party scene is good as any town, and the locals are just as big of ski bums as anywhere else.

There is a lack of gritty ski bums. Not to say they don't exist(you will find them packing Highlands bowl for passes in the late fall). Just not as many when you compare to other places.

I'm gonna probably work there again just not sure when.
