Aspen NS peeps

Any NS homies living in Aspen??

Looks like I'll be working there this winter and would love to have some other like-minded skiers to shred/film with! I know the mountains pretty well, but need some other NSers so we can organize and conquer. Once I buy some Kastle skis and a fur coat, I should be passable as a local.

Also if any NS peeps are passing thru this winter hmu for a couch to crash on. Rental rates are a 750 or 30 rack per night of lodging.

And yes, regionals are dead AF.

There are a couple of guys on here from Aspen. Which mountain are you working at? When I was at Snowmass, most people just hung around with people from their own mountain (Ajax, Highlands, B-milk, Snowmass)

I ski on the freeride team here in Aspen. The boys could show you around, that is if you can keep up!

I'll be working at snowmass. I guess that makes sense that people tend to stick with employees from the same mountain

Snowmass is a solid 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic from downtown Aspen - that’s why most guys will just ski their own mountain. If you’re in lifts, they have a solid crew. Elliott is a solid dude (it’s his first year in charge)

That’s true. Not in lifts, I’ll be in food and bev. How’s the housing at Snowmass?

You living in the commons? It’s basically college dorm style 1, 2, and 4 bedrooms. There’s a free shuttle from the commons to the hill every morning that’s pretty nice. It’s going to be weird this year without having any J1’s out there.

Get to highlands and ajax for sure. Both killer mtns. Snowmass has good terrain but it also has a ton of people. Snowmass has a sick park though.

It's a nice area and has a pretty legit ski bum scene even up against 13 million dollar homes. Idk. Like anywhere else it's all what you make of it.

Belly up is a great place to see a shot. The busses are legit. The cops are pretty chill, I've had roommates brought home by them before. They just don't want people making a scene or freezing in the snow.

Aspen is sick, have fun

In the 5 years I worked at Snowmass, I found it to be the least crowded mountain by far. Especially on a powder day. You go up in Hanging Valley, or the Cirque (if you know how to lap them without having to hike/wait in line you can get a ton of first runs on a powder day) and there’s plenty of gnarly terrain (Burnt Cliffs/Cirque Dykes/Even Campground has some stuff you wouldn’t expect)

If I end up getting an icon pass I will surely be looking for somewhere to crash and ppl to ski with in Aspen

Thanks everyone for the beta so far. Gonna be a good season.

Anyone have info on the Snowmass rec center? Is it pochable or do you get any discount for working for AspenSnowmass? Would be nice to use the pool and stuff if I’m living near it

Definitely not poachable... it sucks. It’s also like $80 (might be more now) a month for a membership... so I would just sneak into Tamarack/Pokolodi lodge/Terracehouse condos (all are right on the mountain) hot tubs/pools. Most don’t mind if you’re not obnoxious and you’re not an ass. Get to know the people working at the hotels and some (I used to) might let you use a workout facility in the hotel.

A lot of the people working lifts work two jobs (lifts/hotel) and you’ll see them every day going to/from work. You’ll find out who has hookups pretty quickly. Most people are out there to ski and have a good time - they’ll hook it up.

You can get a punch pass for pretty cheap. It works for the pool, gym, climbing wall, basketball court, its actually a pretty sweet deal. But if thats not your gig theres a bounty of poachable pools.
