Ascendant Sammy C vs Lupo AX

Has anyone used both of these shells? I currently use Lupo AX's and have now killed two sets of walk switches. Supposedly the new Sammy C has a more durable walk switch. I've had a decent amount of shell work done to my Lupos and they fit me really well.

If anyone knows if the new walk switch is compatible with the Lupo, let me know. Might save me a lot of money. The outgoing Ascendant and Lupo shared mount holes.

The sammy is built to be ridden hard in all aspects of its build. They are some of, if not the most, burly freeride boots you will find. Sammy is big on durability when it comes to his boots and he was pushing to have this boot almost overbuilt. I think the end result came out just right. This will take the abuse but it did not end up a tank weight wise.

Fit wise if the lupos worked for you these should too and the liner is much more plush in the sammy so I would expect the comfort level to be even higher.

If you have any questions about any aspect of the boots let me know.

Oh just saw what you said about the switch and wanting to put it on a lupo. Although you may get it to fit you wont find it solves your issue. There is much more going on then just the switch itself. The way it is implemented on the cuff and how it interacts with the lower shell is where you will find the difference. So although you may find our switch stronger that alone will not solve your issues. Getting the Sammy boot however will ;)

Good to know about them being properly overbuilt. I never broke the switch itself, but the stamped metal base plate under it. Are there any photos that show the backside/walk switch on the Sammy C? All the photos I can find are just a side profile.

Might pay to have a switch plate machined. I have a rudimentary .stl file with the important dimensions there. If anyone has access to a CNC, pm me.

rumor is Sammy ended up running with FT because he had so many issues with that exact thing on the Lupo.

But unconfirmed rumor so take it as you will.

I saw an interview and he had multiple pairs of destroyed lupos. Just confused since the two boots shared the same exact weak switch, and the same parent company. My guess is that he went with whoever would give him a pro model

The Lupo and the Ascendant do not share anything actually. They are not even made in the same factory. Sammy came to FT as we provided a product which works for his needs.

Not the same parent company. Dalbello is part of the MDV group which is part of Newell brands, FT is with K2 Sports which is part of Kohlberg.

I was gonna say, I’ve owned the Ascendant and the Lupo and they’re not the same. The FT walk switch is way more simple than the Lupo. Obviously at a glance they look very similar but the FT doesn’t have the janky metal piece that’s CNCd from cheap sheet metal. Sammy skied Dalbello until he got fed up with the mechanism breaking. If a regular joe shmoe can break it I can’t even imagine how many he snapped. Good move by him and good for FT for picking him up.

The black portion of that walk switch looks identical to my lupos. Is it really a different piece? Do you know if the bolt spacing is different? I'd be tempted to order the FT switch, drill out the rivets and put my orange dalbello switches on... Really wish Dalbello would revise it for the same shell.

This definitely could have been shortened to just get full tilts
