ARVs and TMs

for next year im getting the 06 ARVs and the 07 TMs. Should i centermount both or what. the ARVs r for pow and Bc only and the TMs r for mogles and park only.

centermount blows. it creates more tail than nose. go two cm back from dead center on the TMs, and mount the ARVs where thet are supposed to be mounted. centermounting those would kill thier BC preformance

that sounds good cause my Pes are mounted at sugested and they do good on rails and park and i dont want centermounting to fuck up my Bc riding

I will agree. Only because you want the TMs for moguls too. I absolutely love centermount for park. I feel a lot more comfortable being semetric especially in the air and on rails.

But the centermount with kill their performance on other places on the mountain. So yeah go a little behind the centermount on the TMs.

And never mount your pow skis center. That defeats the purpose. You want to float. I think theres a freeride line on the ARV's. Thats what you want.

"good in park" is very general because many people use that term differently. also... i had my motherships centermounted for BC and they were fine landing forward and landing switch they were perfect but i dont know if you plan on landing sw. in pow.. if you are go with a centermount if not, then dont.

also i dont know how often you ride moguls but a centermount definitely makes it a little tough... however a cm for park is the best way to go in my opinion esp. for spinning onto rails and landing switch, and for spinning in general. it all depends on what you plan on doing and how much you ride park vs. the rest of the mountain.

"The ARVs are for pow and BC only"

Are you shitting me? It makes no sense to buy an "all mountain ski" for "pow and bc" only. Buy a pow and bc ski. The ARV has an 80-something waist. If you are really doing pow and bc on it, get ANTs, BROs, Seths, Squads, or Spats.

That is like buying two cars; a sports car for sporty driving, and an offroad-specific vehicle. You are buying a Porsche and a subaru. Sure, the subaru can handle off-roading, but it won't be nearly as good as a jeep.

Yeah, but you said the TMs are going on moguls. Whatever, if I have to tell you that ARVs are bad BC-specific skis, then you probably aren't doing any real BC anyhow.

I think he'll be perfectly fine in pow/bc with ARVs. The 175 ARVs have a 92mm waist and the 185s have a 95mm waist. It might not be a Prophet 130 or something like that, but I'm sure it'll suit him fine.

Oh stupid, forgot to add the original reason I began to post. I have my TMs centermounted, and they feel just fine, but if you are going to do some moguls with them, you're probably going to want to move them back a bit like everyone said. The long tail makes doing moguls a little more awkward then it does on my old K2 enemies that are mounted back farther.

Moguls are still very do-able centermounted though. It's up to you depending on the ratio of park to moguls you do, and if you think you'll even be able to tell the difference if they're not perfectly centered when spinning/doing rails.

Have fun with the TMs! They are very very fun park skis.

I can't really see what you are getting at. That tells you nothing about my skiing ability, knowledge, or backcountry experience. I am just trying to figure out where this kid is skiing, because I don't think that ARVs are a very good backcountry-specific ski.

you were trying to mock the guy because you thought he doesn't ski decent big mountain resorts. i thought that was funny because you yourself live in Mass...

I wasn't implying your not good and i also agree that the arv is a potentially poor choice. it was jokes mate, no offence meant

It's okay, I just wonder if he is doing backcountry or not. It sounds like not, or at least not really if there are moguls there. If he defines backcountry as hiking in bounds for turns, the ARV might do just fine. If he is attacking lines in Valdez or Haines or France, the ARV would not be ideal, to say the least.

For what off area skiing I do, I have found that dedicated BC skis are not ideal. 90mm+ waisted skis are not needed when you are hiking and skiing on ice and death cookies often found in the east.

i sat centre TM...well actually they might not be good for moguls then...but for the ARV mount freeride unless ur going to land switch half the time
