ARV or AR5

I think I've narrowed it down to between these two skis. I live on the east coast and ski mostly park. But when we get good snow I'd rather ski powder and trees then park. I want something thats good in the park, but can perform all over the mountain. I'd get the ARVs in 175 or the AR5 in 176. Thanks

AR5... since you probably don't get enormous amounts of pow...

so you think that ar5s would be better than arvs. I kind of want a fatter ski but nothing overly fat that its sluggish in regular snow. The ARV doesn't look too fat and its not that heavy. I dont know how it would perform in the air so anyone whos skied them

I love my ARV's. I got them near the end of last year and skiied them 3 days of straight powder. And a few days beyond that. Dreamy skis to say the least. They are incredibly stable and have a very high speed limit. Skiing switch you can absolutely bomb on them. They float pretty well in powder. I think they feel fairly stiff, flex wise. I was kind of suprised by how much stiffer they ski, as opposed to just flexing them with your hands. I was only able to ski briefly in the park on them. Hit some booters, really stable, not to heavy, stomp defiantly. I have yet to hit rails on them, but I will next year. I also have scratches, and I simply do not enjoy skiing on the scratches nearly as much after riding my ARV's. Once you go fat, you'll never go back as they say...

i know its only liek 2mm but once u see them in person its looks like a huge difference

do it for yourself and no one else

I had both AR5s and ARVs last year. If you are only going to have one ski, the ARV would be way too cumbersome. I definitely enjoyed them on hardpack, but it is just unnecessary width and weight, especially in the park. The AR5s are still fine in the trees and stuff. If getting the ARVs is a 1 and getting AR5s is a 10, I'd give you a 12

I dream of winter.

ar5's are still fat dude, i'd get ar5's for east coast. i ride these in minnesota and they're sick

I love my arv's... I don't like using them on rails though.... I have other skis for that. But for you i'd say AR5 for sure... and the graphic on the new 176's is doooope! but then again arv's might be more stable. You'd like either one.

damn that was back and forth... wahtever though

Last years 175 ARV was 90 and the 185 was 93 i believe. So if it is 2 cm wider this year the 175 would be 92 and the 185 would be yes...95

Im now leaning towards the ARV cause the AR5 isn't really that wide and i want something kind of wide, but not too much. I've seen both of them in person so I know how the look in person. I don't know if the AR5 would be that much better than any other companies skis like the pe or whatever to make me drop that much money for it. Im gonna have these skis for many seasons so I want something that will hold up and be able to use everywhere.

I know that were not gonna be getting insane powder but I want something a little wider than my pes. I just don't know what the ARV will be like on harpack and groomers

It is good on groomers...if you are man enough to handle a fat bitch. If you suck at carving/skiing in genereal, don't bother, it's to much ski.

how heavy and stiff are ARV compared to mojo(90) ?

yo, i got teh arv and am planning on taking in in the park... its pretty noodly for a wide ski, and it could be more stable on rails. booyah

get arv

^actually it (ARV) isn't that noodly... and compared to the mojo its lighter and a litte more flexy. Its perfect for soft snow, groomers, park, whatever u throw at it.

I just got the new freeskier and the karmas look pretty similar to what I want. How do they compare to these skis

I was leaning towards the ARV but all of you seem to think that the AR5 is better does anyone have anything bad to say against the AR5 or reasons the ARV would be better. What makes the AR5 so much more expensive than like pes thats what I was on last year so is this a good choice

it's already been said quite a few times, but keep in mind, these are entirely different skis, designed for entirely different terrain. 4 the east i'd say go w/ the ar5's, they'll hold up in the pow and rip in those trees, while holding their own in the park.

But remember, Armada isn't the only brand out there. check other brands like, line(chronics), 4frnt, volkl(karmas/dogens), and, of course, dynastar and the trblmkrs, to name a few...

Yeah the chronic wide looked good and so do the karmas. But the karmas are like 700 and my shop doesn't carry lines. The tms look alright a little narrow for my taste tho. I think I'll probably go AR5. Thanks to everyone for all ur help

My shop is having a big sale this weekend so I'll probably be going with the ar5s. Is this the right choice? Where do you suggest mounting them I ski mostly park but all mountain as well

the new public enemies or the chronic wides sound like what you're looking for. they are both sick skis and are cheaper than the armada's.

i rode the pistols tha last year and a half and now i am going to the arvs and they have the same sidecut only 3mm skinnier in each dimension (in the 175s)and if they handle well in everything like the pistols did because of the progressive sidecut go for it i mean that is why i decided to buy them in the first place. they are also stiffer than the pistols were which meens that they will have more pop. I mean i haven't rode them yet but that is what my reasoning is.

yeah the ARV's are sick and you can get em at Proctor Jones for only $549.. but if that's too much, they also have the AR5 for $485

protorjones sucks man.

I thought you had decided on the Ar5's... don't swagger man. Just stick with your choice and get them mounted like 2-3cm back from core center. you'll love them.

i love the look of the arvs n would love to have em, but if u mostly ski park i think id say ar5's yeha arvs would be better for pow but ur not gonna get too much livin on the east
