Hey all, I live in the states, but my entire life have tried to make it to BC to live, because I think it's just beautiful. I am trying to get a BFA (BA in fine arts) for graphic design. What colleges are around Vancouver or Whistler that would be good or offer this program?

Also, I know it is difficult for Americans especially to work/live in Canada, what about attending college? Is it difficult to get in?

ANY information would be awesome!

Emily carr is probably your best bet.. really legit in terms of standards too. i was thinking of going there for industrial design.. right downtown too, so not too far from the mountains

Emily Carr, and I think VCC has a good graphics program too?not sure what it's like now.

a friend of mine goes to Langara for graphic design and says its pretty good.Emily Carr is really hard to get into. They are super picky about the portfolios you send in

If you can get in to Emily Carr I would seriously consider it.Granville Island is gorgeous, you're right on False creek looking across at downtown. And it's a super artsy micro-community with a bunch of theatre companies and small galleries and studios. Plus all the street performers and the public market.I've had a couple of friends who go/went there and only heard good things about it. A lot of companies will collaborate with the school and get teams of students to design things for them - Visa and Lululemon among others for the Olympics, as well as various projects since then.
