But the palestinians have been living under a 35 year long occupation with only sticks, stones and the occational suicidebombers to defend themself against entire army backed by the US.

Sharon have been pointed as indirect responsible for the massacre of palestinians at refugeecamps Sabra and Shatila. He is doing to the palestinians almost what the nazis did to the jews during the world war 2.

arafat and sharon arent really good guys any of them.. but i dont think the outcome of the peace talks would resolve anything even without arafat because this is getting to old to bee resolved.. the conflict that is... its all about religion.

^^^^arafat got the nobel because of the camp david accords, but those really didn't do anything. i mean, they opened up future peace talks between palestine and israel, but i would't have gone so far as to give the guy the fucking nobel peace prize, because arafat wanted sooooo many concessions that in the end it was all moot anyway. which was basically the same thing he did every time - whenever the two parties had FINALLY reached some sort of agreement, he would at the last minute just up and say 'whoops, wait, i want this too.' so, again, in my opinion, he did more to hinder the peace process than he did to help it.

but him dying is not going to be good for anyone in that area. the israeli government is going to have to walk VERY softly for a while until they can start getting into talks with the new palestinian leadership.

and on a side note: who's fault is this ENTIRE thing? the UN. and what are they doing to help resolve it? they're doing dick. fuck the UN.

You could debate for 30 years (as much of the world has done) as to whether or not arafat and sharon are 'good men' or whether their causes are just. What you really should worry about is what is going to happen in Palestine, what the next leader is gonna b like, how israel is going to react to this (are they gonna take advantage of the lack of leadership and possible ensueing power struggle) and how this is gonna effect us....and for whoever said, 'most of the people here are in 10th grade' that shouldnt matter. Im in 10th grade and im sure alot of the other people here are even younger than that. As long as you make a quality comment and ur not a total dumbass (uh dude....arafat is gay) then it shouldnt matter how old u r
