Isn't the National Guard like the reserves, except under the control of the state instead of the federal government? In which case aren't guardsmen just part-time soldiers like the reserves who maybe don't want to be in the military full time since they might go to school, perhaps???????
 
I work with a guy in the reserves, and he doesn't really fit the description you guys are giving. Maybe if you actually talked to somebody that did it, and found out what they do, you'd give them the respect they deserve. They're just the people that are out there to defend their country but don't want to dedicate their entire lives to the military. Go ahead and tear that last sentence apart, but then maybe you should give yourself shit for being a part time skier, isn't that kind of embarassing that you don't ski every day?

i hate to break it to you lineskis540 but they're the ones that get called up BEFORE the regular army/marines/navy/air force. They may be hill billies, or rednecks or what ever but they are the ones going to war to defend your right to start stupid threads like this.

ps wherer were you when the fighting started? Are you fighting for your country or just complaning about it?
 
national guard are the lowest of the military they have minimal training and put other people at risk. the majority are 40+year old farmers . why the fuck would you want someone like that defending you?

the national guard are untrained , they should not be givien the responsibility tthey have. I dont care if you dont think im smart, last time I checked marines were meant to be killers. and you saying you would knock my teeth out with you not even knowing anything about me except my internet "personality" is qfucking hilarious
 
marines are not required to be intelligent. however to join the national guard you are required to be at least 45 and own a chicken farm and have a wife that weighs over 200 pounds

They may be part time soldiers but at least they're doing their time and serving their country.
 
It really doesn't matter what service your enlisted in. The fact is these people (no matter how short of a time) are doing something that could kill them all to protect people like you. Who the fuck cares if they are fat and a farmer or whatever they may they are still willing to go out there and get shot at so other people don't have to. It isn't there damn fault they arn't getting the proper training either, it's the government. So don't get on people who are willing to be shot up for this country.
 
it actually really DOES matter what your branch is. If we only had marines,and army special forces. = Highly trained soilders thier would not be 2000 dead americans. national guard is meant to be around when thier is shit like katrina.
 
back up your fucking statements. history shows that less+higer quality works better then large amounts of in your words "bullet sponges" example- SEE french indian war,revolutionary war. army special units in france and austria in ww2 and even american snipers in vietnam.
 
special forces are always better then reg army. and to think that the national guard is really making a difference in ira is crazy.

Alright, so we can really tell who actually knows anything about the reserves in this thread. Anyways, do a little research and you'll find that by being in the reserves, you aren't just on a list, you go to training and learn to fight/shoot/whatever else you need to do. Lineskis450, I would LOVE to see you say anything you've said to some of the people I know in the reserves, who are all under the age of 30 and don't farm, by the way. You would be on the ground before you got 3 seconds into your shit talking. Just accept the fact that some people are nice enough to volunteer their lives to defend your right to whine and complain, and show them a little respect for a change.
