Armada's new alpha 1

i think any new ideas/constructions/shapes in skis are great. some work out, some don't...i'll probably never ride a pair of alpha's, but i'm stoked on fresh ideas in the ski industry.

interesting idea, but the whole point of an "elf shoe" or early rise or whatever it has is to float in powder, but when somthings that skinny, it makes no sense, you'd sink anyway.

it also cuts into the usable sidecut, so they wont have as much edge to hold on icie conditions.

id still try them

why is the longest length 176? You will never get the effect these skis are supposed to have on something that short...

and, is this not the same idea as moments' two year old reno rockers, just with a smidgen of camber under the foot?

So ya, I suppose you would have to ride it first.

The idea is sick, rocker on a park ski is genius. Great for pop, everything is quicker, butters are way easier, never get hung up or catch an edge on a lip every again.

I am not sure what the weird tapering is for, I suppose I could searchbar it, but I am sure its a good idea for something.

ok, so, the rocker makes sense for a park ski, but thats been done. and whats the point of the elf shoe taper on a narrow ski? its meant for buoyancy in powder, the narrower tip doesnt get caught under the fluff like a wide, sidecut-tip would (like on the ARG), so what the fuck will that do for you in a groomed park?

Pretty much I think they'll be sick and the future of park skis. Ya, they seem like a reference to the reno rocker, which seems like an awesome ski even though ive never skied them. I bet by next season there'll be a bunch other companies making a similar ski and tons of ppl will want them.

cool idea, rockered park skis seem sick for butters and stuff.. but would they be stable enough to take bigger landings? i've never tried rockered skis myself..

i think its a good idea in theory.. because it will give lots of the benefits of a longer ski without making it much more difficult to spin on to rails etc.. but that said i dont know why they didnt make them a bit wider and in longer lengths.. it seems a bit crazy to make this ski that allows for longer skis but then make 182 the longest length..

if it was super light and about 93mm underfoot it would be a sick ski. how much rocker deos it have exacly?

Im surprised Armada was the first to make a reverse camber park ski. I think once you see them in person, you'll have a good idea about how the performance will be. Im super curious though, but not $600 curious.

Technical Specs

170cm- 94-111-81-100-85

176cm- 95-112-82-101-86

182cm- 96-113-83-102-87

sounds sick for a park ski

everyone thats confused on the early taper... i think its just there to help tip snag on lips... if you think about it, a really fat tip on a rockered ski that isnt tapered has a way better possibility of snagging then if you taper it... so i think they just had that in mind for the taper... i think the skis would be a ton of fun to rock in the park after shreding my eps in the park a bunch... and im sure the effective edge would be fine, especially since its cambered under foot...
