Armada skinny

I was at the ski movie III premiere last night and I spoke to Chris O'connell. One of the owners of Armada and he gave me the 411 on the new sticks. I asked how he got Tanner, JF, Boyd and everyone to switch without being able to pay them the big bucks like rossi. He said they all gave up a ton of cash because they believed in the product so much. They still had there paychecks from Oakely etc. He said they have been testing prototypes for 2 years, and got Tanner etc involved to help test and design them. As we all know the site will be up in full effect in November and you will beable to buy them online, and thats it. No one else will sell them this year he said. They are only making approx 1,000 to 1,500 pairs. Next year will be there first real production year. He said if you hustle you will be able to get them but they will go quick. I told him its incredible to see the athletes so willing to give the $Bling$Bling$ to promote a sick new ski company. I also let him know the mass amounts of great threads on this site about his new company which got his stoked. He feels bad he won't be able to supply everyone with skis that want them. I also asked him about prices.... The park ski will be about $575.00 and the backcountry boards will run you about $675.00. Anyway I know the Armada threads are getting old but I thought one more qith some real info wouldn't hurt. Peace

Public Enemy - $350...a little better use of my hard earned money

Hey

I was in Tignes, France last week. I met up with Julien Regnier-Lafforge who told me that the Armada will be avaiable from december.

'Armada is our little baby' he said... :-) 'It's a dream come true'

I also bought a pair of BC-Scratches from him, $300! Nice deal...

He said they are a little pricey because of the manufacturing costs. The are built like a tank, indestructable, but by making them that way it gets expensive to build.

Just a thought which I forgot to ask Chris was if Tanner, Boyd were still sponsered by Rossi just for boots and bindings etc. Obviuosly Armada doesn't yet make those hardgoods. So I gues it is possible for them to sponsered by both.

i got an email from armada. the only similarity to the scratch is the slanted sidewall. he said they have and aspen/ash wood core and that all the info for the skis construction/graphics will be on their site by the end of the week. (ahead of schedule)

I thought the skis made you good. I got the skis and it turned out I was wrong. It must be the clothes.

so the armada's have the same sidewall deal asthe scratches?

They do have slant sidewall, like the scratch, and like many snowboards on the market as well. Our design and testing has shown that slant sidewalls are more durrable then the typical cap construction, we are all about the durrability factor. Other then that the similarites stop there.

Like parker669 said, we will have complete ski information up on our site by this time next week.

stay tuned!

I'm stoked about this even if I don't get a pair this season. I just think it's wicked cool that there are riders out there that care that much about the progression of the sport. I'll support any company that's as core as that. It's a lot easier said than done to give up that much cash for the cause.

Cheers

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

only one thought is that i think that guys that r sick like tanner and JF will still be sick skiers no matter what the ski on...

Fuck you...the first thing i said to niel Turner after i broke my collarbone... and he said i couldnt get hurt
