Armada pipe cleaners

damn i dont know if the pc can handle 305 rails....jk, but yeah as long as you maintain the bases by keeping them waxed they should hold up pretty well also look into the ar7 cause it can handle the jumps and rails, but is slightly more durable than the pcs for the ar7 has the ar50 construction (a bland of cap and abs) the cap keeps the swing weight down and keeps the top sheet from chipin and the abs underfoot offers forgiveness for landing and offers rigidity underfoot to handle the abuse from rails. The ar7 is also a bit stiffer than the pcs so it is made for jumps, but still playful. the ar7 is also cheaper and doesnt need as much attention for the bases for the ar7 has the standard base
 
The thing is i can get pipe cleaners for 100 bucks less than ar7s, I am also very small and light and i worry about the ar7s playfullness
 
I rode the Pipe Cleaners for a couple season and liked them. Nice stiff flex that only gets soft in the very tip and tail. I never really felt like the race base was faster, but still a great ski.
 
Do it. They're awesome skis. Also, everybody worries WAY too much about the race bases... They really aren't weak at all and don't need as much maintenance as people claim.
 
Pipe Cleaners are the best ski ever!

I've also got AR6's and i would definately go with pipe cleaners. Just look after the bases with regular of waxing.
 
I had the pipe cleaners last season. Definitely my favorite ski to date. I definitely noticed that they were faster than any other ski I've ridden as long as I kept them waxed. They are super stable going 50mph down a groomer and are solid on big landings. They're fine to take on rails and boxes. Just wax them often and the base will be plenty strong to take the abuse. I really liked the flex, stiff tail, medium waist, soft tip. Great for butters and maximizing energy transfer in the pipe. Definitely go for them. I broke mine (my fault not the skis) and got a pair of AR7s but that's only because I wanted to try something different.
 
last year the ar6, t-hall, and the pcs, almost had the same dimensions but this year armada made the ar7 and t-hall wider in which provides a more stable ski on jumps and rails and gives it a more all mountain capability. the ar7 and t-hall have the ar50 construction that is also found on the alpha and the halo. the ar50 construction is a blend of cap and abs, the cap is in the tip and tails and th abs underfoot. the abs makes the ski more forgiving underfoot in absorbing the vibration on jump and rail contact, and it also makes the ski durable underfoot. the cap construction makes the swing weight lower and even in the tips and tails, making giving the user to make big spins, the cap makes the ski lighter and adds durability to the topsheet. the ar7 is stiffer than the pc, and it can handle any jump size and is still playful on jibs. the ar7 has the standard armada base so it doesnt need to be waxed as often as the pcs. for me i definitely choose the ar7 over the pc but thats my opinion.
 
i had the AR6's last year and i got PCs this year because the AR^s were too soft for me. and the PCs are cheaper for this guy.
 
Unfortunately haven't gotten a chance to ride them yet. Hoping to get out sometime during Thanksgiving break.

I can say in the same size (176 cm) they are quite a bit lighter than the Pipe Cleaners. This is due to the AR50 sidewall construction which uses cap construction in the tip and tail portions of the ski and sidewall directly under foot.

So the AR7 will be lighter and will have a lot less swing weight than the Pipe Cleaners.

It also makes for a more durable ski (sidewall skis chip very easily where the topsheet meets the sidewall). The capped tip and tail will be a lot more resilient to topsheet chipping since there is no sharp edge where the topsheet ends.

What I did last year to my Pipe Cleaners was round the edge where the sidewall meets the top sheet using one of those sanding sponges you can get an any hardware store. All you do is smooth and round out the sharp corner and it helps dramatically in reducing chipping.

As for ski performance, the Pipe Cleaner will handle fast groomers and ice better than the AR7s simple because it is a 100% vertical sidewall ski. It's just that much better at biting in and holding a solid edge w/o getting shaky at speed or booting out. Although the AR7 will still provide a great ride.

Other than that the AR7s are 2mm wider underfoot and 3mm wider in the tip and tail than a comparable Pipe Cleaner and has a slightly longer turn radius. The AR7s will be marginally better in soft snow and a bit more stable.

The AR7 is also slightly stiffer than the Pipe Cleaner, but not by much. The flex of the Pipe Cleaner is designed to maximize energy transfer in half an quarter pipes. The AR7 is designed to be stable on big park landings and great for just cruising down some groomers.

Also the AR7 has a slower, but lower maintenance base whereas the Pipe Cleaner has a faster base that requires more frequent waxing.

That's pretty much all I have for now. You really can't go wrong either way. Both skis will provide a great ride.
 
thanks thats very helpfull. I am still probably going to go with the pc's because they are 100 bucks cheeper for me but the ar7s are definitily my second chioce.
 
You'll definitely be stoked on the Pipe Cleaners. They are great on jumps, boxes, rails, and pipe and also rail turns down groomers.
