Hey i wanted to see what NS's input was on these skis. Im looking into buying some new skis and have narrowed it down to these two. I have heard awesome things about both skis and can't decide on which one to demo. I like to ski powder and all over the mountain. I do a little bit of backcountry. I am just looking for a perfect "do anything" ski. Let me know what you think. Thanks NS.

I have ridden the gotamas and i own a pair of rossi s5's. Love em both. really light and responsive for a bigger ski. The JJ has rockers in the tip and tail and a different sidecut that is better for backcountry. It depends on what you ski most of the time, if its inbounds id go goats or s5's...hope this helps

Go for the JJ's bro, the are a 5 dimensional ski, aka they are rockered in the tip and tail but have conventional sidecut and camber in the middle of the ski. This means they slay the pow, but also can charge down a groomed run. My buddy charges just as hard as I do on groomers, he usually rides his JJ's while I ride my AR6's. The difference is the skiabiltiy of the ski when you are getting to the powder on the groomers or crud and after them when you have to head back to the lift on the crud too.

Thanks for the input! I just needed reassurance before i start to really go and buy something. Karma++++++++++++

I have the hellbents and my brother has the goats (I also have an old pair of goats, which are sick [white ones]).

The bents are just bigger. More to deal with and heavy. I love them, but the goats are a little more nimble. I think the bents are better for everything, but they are mine and I am probably more used to them. His goats are also mounted at the +3 mark, which is the most forward suggested mount point they offered. if I had them I would have mounted them close to center.

I have only demod the JJs once and didnt really get a great feel for them. I just went through the park for a run and went back to the ARV.

The goats are super sick, feel very light and nimble, but can get a little squirley on hard pack if you arnt a powerful skier.

id say jj, its more innovative. the whole 5 dimensional rocker with early taper makes the ski extremely fun. i own the bents, which are also fun, but a bit heavier. for me, the bents are the ultimate pow ski. and they just flap over every bump on the piste and carve really well, possibly better then my park skis. the fact that they are soft makes butters crazy on them. they arent a legendary ski for no reason. but if ur scared of its weigt then id suggest jj. for me the jj was too short. so i went 189 bents. its ur call

The 5 dimensional sidecut on the jj's make them much more versatile. i have a pair and just love them aye, like they slay pow, and then can make some solid turns on piste. obviously they not going to carve like a 85 underfoot, but they are the best iv skiied on for a ski that size. my mate has the hellbents, and he reckons they are awesome, but just too soft to get decent performance on piste.

isn't the 5 dimensions the sidecut? like the skinny tips to fatter to skinny waist fatter then smaller tips?if that makes any sense?

sorry for the double post but i also have 186 gotama havent even skied um in the pow but damn do they carve for a unconventional ski...havent skied the jj's i think youd probably like either
