Armada JJ suited for me?

Ok, I just got a nice deal on the JJ's, and I'm just about to go for that deal, but I have a question about the length of them.

I'm about 6'1" (185/186cm) and the JJ's apparently measure 185cm. I know that this length would be perfect if it was a park ski, but how does it work when its a rockered ski that I will be using primarily for pow? (got some Ninthward First Bloods for park)

My weight is about 165 pounds (about 75kg), if that matters.

Given your weight I think you will be alright using the 185 JJ's as a pow ski. Just don't mount the skis too far forwards and you should be just fine (Not that you are even supposed to mount the JJ's even close to center).

With that said, good luck finding the 185's :( I tried.

Ordered them with a pair of Marker Jesters a couple hourse ago, so I'm pretty stoked right now. Can't wait to get my hands on them.

Have to do some thinking about the mounting though.

Personally I'd mount them right on the line recommended. I think it's -5 back from center, but there is a line right on the ski that will tell you.

You definitely should be excited, they're one of - if not the most - popular and hard to find skis this year.

Ye, I've heard that recommended is the best, but I'm thinking perhaps +1 from that to make it a bit easier to go switch with.

I was talking with a shop tech about that out of curiosity.

He said it is still best to mount at recommended. You've still got a ton of tail and by mounting farther forwards you start fighting the natural shape of the ski.

Still, to each their own.

I guess I'll take a look at them when I get them, to see how far back -5 really is. I guess I'm a bit intimidated by the number, since I have never ridden a twintip ski mounted further back than -2. : P

No doubt it will take some getting used to, but by mounting that ski further forwards you'd be hurting yourself performance wise.

Hmm, I plan on riding them switch, but you don't think mounting at -3 would be a bit too far away from recommended for a guy like me?

a guy like me = not Tanner og Jacob

What I was really asking was if mounting at -3 would influence the ski too much in a bad way for someone who isn't Tanner Hall?
