Armada ARV or El Rey?

So I'm looking at a new pair of skis for next year because all my twintips' edges are damaged beyond repair from midwest rocks and park skiing. I've been looking around and it looks like within my budget, ARV's or El Rey's are my best options. I will only be using these skis when I go out west, they will never touch a rail, and probably never ski in the Midwest. They are for all-mountain only. I am a racer, so I prefer a stiffer ski, and the el reys are cheaper and stiffer and only slightly narrower so I was kinda leaning towards those. I've never skied either ski though, so I was looking for some input from you guys. My absolute max for the budget is $400, I will not go over that, bindings not included. I'm open to other suggestions to, but keep in mind my restrictive budget.

Personally I prefer the ARV, but given your information and preferences it seems like the el rey would be perfect for you. The ARV is better all mountain, but the El Rey is stiffer and narrower which you would probably feel more comfortable with. Plus it's cheaper.

If you're going to be using them out west I'd go with the ARV's because they will deal with fresh snow better, and the El Reys are more park oriented. I'd go wider for an out-west all mountain ski though, you should check the Kung Fujas (102 waist) line prophet 98s, or maybe Sir Francis Bacons (however all of these would have to be on sale, but that might not be too hard since its the end of the season)

go with the arv since it is a full sidewall i find it rode better than a cap. it has a nice medium flex and the slightly wide base makes it versatile and stable. the arv will be more durable than the el rey over time. it may be a bit more but go for it

el rey feels like a park ski. arv feels like an all mountain twin that can go in the park. pick the one that suits your style.

for sure, all their any ski of theirs besides the a-bangs and the masterminds are supposed to be great durability wise.

Instead of opening a new thread Im gonna post this question here.

Has anyone ridden the 2013 ARV? I heard it's suppose to be stiffer than previous years. Also does anyone have some pics of it?

Always has the best graphic of Armada's line and I'm glad they put it on the ARV. As for the above post, the flex of the ski will be the same as other years. If mine break I'll be getting another pair of them, so awesome.

Thanks Zen. I might just find a last years demoed pair and put new bindings on it If its the same ski.
