Armada ARG V.S Faty-pus Alotta rockers

very different skis since the ARG is reverse sidecut they are pow specific and you will die trying to turn them on hardpack but the A-Lotta has traditional shape just with rocker making it great for pow with its massive width but you can still carve a decent turn on groomers

well, they are both fatty powder skis. ARGs actually had some though put into the shape, instead of just doubling the dimensions of a GS ski, and bending the tip. ARGs are lighter. ARGs are going to be better in trees, w/o a 172 or whatever tip getting in the way. ARGs can charge anything fine(slice through crud/variable) from the stiffness and the reverse sidecut(something powder skis have, it's ok, Faty-Pus might not understand these things). ARGs are easy to ski on groomers, just like spatulas, except even easier(you SLIDE/skid your turns, not carve them. That is more fun anyways, since groomers going back to the lift from pow are normally pretty borring, on a ski like Alotta=borring/gay).

So....ARG win? go buy ARGs now.

you enjoy side slipping down groomers? that sounds mad sketch and not fun at all

No hate to Armada but ARG=100% powder tool A-Lotta=90% pow tool that can hold an edge on harder snow and not go nuts

Reverse sidecut does not work on groomers. its Physics.

If you want a ski for tree skiing/cat skiing where there is endless pow the ARG is untouchable but the A-Lotta is a traditional shape blown up and now rockered to create the flotation

Love both companies but its all about preference

you can't pressure your lower edge into a turn/carve or anything, but I enjoy sliding down sideways while not losing any speed(untill you really dig it in) on groomers between pow run end and lift. That was Spatulas though. Just more fun than having a 140waisted GS sidecut to me..it's not like your airing massive gaps in park with them or anything. Oh, and ARGs murder crud/chopped.

fair enough Ive heard ARGs are mad slow when you hit hard pack/cat tracks

but yeah i bet the Alottas are pretty damn heavy too so to each his own

ARG's are the shit. period. THey are retarded amounts of fun. Also to the people who bitch about their performance on groomers on the way back to the lift, don't worry. think about it, it you are using ARG's that day, there is what, like 5+ inches of fresh, which means the groomers are going to be soft. they rip carved turns sooo wel when the snow is soft, doesn't have to be pow. If you take them out on hardpack or ice youre an idiot. THey are slow on flat cat tracks, but any super fat ski is, just get em waxed and they are fine.

They are my most prized possesion, and i wouldn't trade them for any other ski. TOOOOO MUCH FUN

I spent two years on ARGs and had a ton of fun on them, but at 180lbs I was able to burry the tips and do a couple inadvertent front flips. If they made a 195 they would be fantastic, simply because they are so light for their size. That being said, they are a pure powder tool. There are a bunch of skis out there that offer 80%+ of the pow/tree performance but can still ski the rest of the mountain well. And that won't get passed by snowboarders on the flats.

A big funshape like the Great Scott, 195 S7, 196 Lhasa Pow, 193 EHP, would be better choices than both the ARG and the Fatypus. Once you get past 130 in the waist I think you loose too much harder snow performance for not enough gain.

Scott and I designed the Great Scotts to combine the best of the ARGs and more regular skis. For a resort ski, I wouldn't go back. I am able to get twice as many days on the Great Scotts instead of the ARGs because you can use them in less snow, in more choppy stuff, and they work on the hard stuff.

got a set of regular camber 180 alottas last year. they are way better than you think in far from steller conditions. Having ridden a buddies set of Pontoons I have to go with the regular camber super hero dimensions of the alottas. I bet you would love both of them!

I fucking love my ARGs. They make skiing feel like sex. In addition, whoever says they are 100% powder specific and you cant go on groomers with them is a retard, they aren't great on groomers but they hold their own. Definitely the funnest ski i have ever been on. Plus they make crud feel like 2 feet of fresh and you can boost airs like nothing you've ever dreamed of. You might have trouble keeping them up on deep days though, but I highly recommend the ARG
